I know it's been stated several times in this thread, but I'd like to speak for a decent portion of competitive Rock Band teams in saying: By limiting the age to 21 and over, many good teams (mine included) are being excluded, and in a sense feel kind of screwed (for use of a better term). This is no way to hold a National Tournament by being non-inclusive to all majority (18+) players.

I understand that casinos have strict rules regarding age and the areas that persons under 21 can access; however, there are ways around this (for instance placing the competition in an all-accessible area). Seriously, Harmonix, many of the best players in the nation are being left out of this competition.

Nobody is getting screwed. It's Harrah's tournament and promotion, they set the rules and run the contest. Its not about crowning the greatest Rock Band players, its about getting people into the casino and signed up in their frequent gamer program. Don't blame Harmonix.

    UGH!!!!!

I'm so psyched that an official Rock Band competition is coming to Vegas....

BUT... guess who has an immediate family member who works for Harrah's and therefore is INELIGIBLE TO COMPETE!!!!!!

    DARN IT ALL!!!!!

shoot me an email meloncollie01@aol.com if you think you might want to join up (obviously we need a drummer and guitar/bass - depending on the song)
Of course winning would be SWEET!!! we are planning on having FUN!!!

My buddies and I are stoked about making fools of ourselves in front of the general public of Las Vegas. I don't think we have any pipe dreams of winning the thing, since we're not going to care about an optimal scoring path, but it'll be fun to get out there and rock out in front of fellow RB players and tourists alike!

(it looks like the Vegas one will be set up outside at Carnival Court. Very cool and ripe for plenty of public exposure!)

Anyhow, is anyone else planning on throwing on some costumes for this? And what do you think about this part of the article: "In addition, visitors at participating Total Rewards casinos across the country will be able to pick up their choice of guitar, bass, drums or vocals and rock out throughout the year during special Rock Band Nights. " If Harrah's can set up some RB nights, that would be awesome. I can't find anything else in Vegas that isn't on a work night (sunday and monday nights, ugh).

I don't want to debate you further, but I believe district and regional qualifiers culminating in the crowning of an ultimate champion with $10k on the line + perks sounds like all the elements of a high-stakes national tournament.

In your defense though, it is true that the rules are governed by Harrah's more or less, and it is a good business decision for Harmonix. I just don't want to see them go the way side of other game companies and worry solely about the dollar rather than the whole of their fan base.
