    Tough one....

I guess if you can vote for a duo, it's hard to be John and Paul. But I'm gonna go with the Glimmer Twins:

    Jagger and Richards

Why? Well -- I don't really consider John and Paul a songwriting team. The number of songs they both contributed to is really small. So I think it's really two songwriters, not one. And my interpretation is you need to pick a songwriter. So I would have to choose between John and Paul, and I don't think either one taken alone matches their combined output.

The other stars of the era to me are Pete Townshend and Ray Davies. But Pete's best stuff if really from post the Invasion (Invasion ends in '67, Tommy's '69 and Who's Next and Quadrophenia are from the 70's). Ray also had a lot of highlights from '68-'70 (Village Green Preservation Society, Lola and Powerman vs. the Money Go Round, Arthur), but I actually think his Invasion era output was at least as good as Pete's if not maybe even better.

Jagger and Richards had an awesome catalog from the Invasion era, though: Under My Thumb, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Ruby Tuesday, Paint it Black, Heart of Stone, and a bunch of others.

So for me -- it's Mick and Keith.

    Current (I think):

    Rod Argent: 2
    Lennon & McCartney: 1
Mick Jagger & Keith Richards: 1 (yeah, I'll allow duos for songwriting)
    George Harrison: 1

And yeah, I think I'll get into the act with the next band....I'll start voting after this band wraps up.

You may need to break the tie on this one.
