Very mellow album. Definitely not as good as BSSM before it, or Californication after it, but it won't make you want to rip your ears off either. Just average. Nothing outstanding makes it stick out, but nothing horrible kills it either.

I liked it a bit. Not as good as BTW, Cali, or BSSM. But Aeroplane, Warped, Coffee Shop, Shallow Be Thy Game, and Falling Into Grace are cool.

This album came out when I was in high school, I listened to it a lot. I thought it had a good stable of singles and I enjoyed Navarro's guitar work. I actually saw his first performance with RHCP at Woodstock '94 - poor guy had to learn their whole bag of tricks in a week or two and play while wearing big stupid costumes. As a result the show was pretty bad.

That said I don't really listen to the album much anymore. It isn't necessarily as prolific as their earlier and later stuff.

I don't think it's as bad as most people say. Aeroplane, Walkabout, and Shallow Be Thy Game are some of my favorite RHCP songs.

Aeroplane is by far my favorite Chilli Peppers song (DLC please?). But the album as a whole is not their best.
