    Venturing into Blues

Alright, so SRV is one of my favorite artists, and I'm looking to get into the work of some earlier blues artists (John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and the like), but I've been searching around, and there's an overwhelming amount of work by these guys, I have no idea where to begin. I'd greatly appreciate some suggestions for a few albums to get as a starting point.

Considering the full length wasn't proper until the late 50s, you will be best off grabbing a few best of's for classic blues. Howlin' Wolf's self-titled is a good start, I think, too.

Would you recommend getting some compilations, or just Greatest Hits?

But this is History of Rock!

All joking aside, there is an artist called Buddy Guy? Is he Canadian by chance?

Have you seen the South Park Episode where Canada goes on strike? At the end when they maroon the WGA leader on the ice burg they trade off with "I'm not your buddy, guy!", "I'm not your guy, Sir!", "I'm not your Sir, buddy!", "I'm not your Buddy, guy!" for the last minute or so.

One of the many instances where South Park isn't funny.

Pfft. South Park is one of the most consistently funny shows on TV. I'll not claim as some might that it's an incisive satire, but it gets by.
