ZZ Top's cover of Dust My Broom may be a good blues-rock song, but it's not delta blues; despite the originator. That's the fun thing about covers. There is no gritt and twang to that song as delta blues is supposed to be.
Gary Moore's cover of that song is better and more to the roots, too.

Pure blues =/= pure southern rock. Again, the proper recipe for southern rock: take one part blues, one part country and/or bluegrass, mix well with hard rock. Write lyrics about the South, geographically or culturally. Deep-fry for ten minutes or ten years. Serves millions.
Anyhow, poll closed.....sorry for the late hour, but DST threw it off....

i was just saying what you said, i connected the dots, you said ZZ Top was southern rock because they played blues, then you said how they covered Robert Johnson's tune, which was pure delta blues, so you were therefore saying: Robert Johnson is southern rock
proof is: ZZ Top is a blues rock/hard rock group
listen to Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, OMD, NROPS, Skynyrd, Outlaws then listen to lets say, Under Pressure by ZZ Top
not southern rock
