A rare early morning jam for the insomniac in me! Started with Gusano still crushing the face-melting solos on his broken axe, Khasm beating skins like it's his only job(hopefully not, sorry bud!) and the silent but deadly Musicman towing the bottom line like a champ. I croaked out some vocals and most of a lung before I took to the shredder and flipped the Mic to Gusano! We dragged him kicking and screaming(literally) through some of his favorites and even pulled a couple last second gold stars from our nether regions! Kudos! Rock on brothas!

warbeast review early. i def see where it smokes the strat. strum is more responsive. whammy is sick good. the searching 4 signal is annoyin. being full size it is big. try tilting this thing up ha. the gt 4 star power button does shoot the od off . im trying to play palm down so i can tap. i might grow to like it but here are my cons. teh extended strum bar. it extended lengthwise not depth wise. so i miss the bar alot. i think ill try a pick to overcome that. next gripethis guitar is beyond noisey. way to loud . would i get it again no . im actaully oredering another strat. so warbeast is great on paper poor on function .

This is disappointing as I was actually toying with the idea of buying one of these monsters the next time I had some spare cash. I don't know, I think I could tone out the noise (I'm used to ignoring the racket I make playing drums, I can't imagine this thing is louder than that) but the issue with the strum bar sounds pretty annoying. Oh well, I guess that's just more cash I can spend on pimping out my drums

We had a Camp Freddy classic three man jam tonight. Gusano sporting his broken strat, myself on the drums, and the mighty Bigfish unleashing his incredibly evil voxtar skills upon an unsuspecting world. I don't know what was more impressive, the guy's simultaneous vocal/guitar skills, or the name he gave to his vocalist rock band cartoon avatar person. Either way, I was wowed.

After Fish was done showing off we tackled some instrumentals, and Gusano showed off his skills with a stunning run on one of those Stevie Ray songs with his broken guitar. Seriously, that guy plays better with a busted strat than most people play with...um....a non-broken strat.

We ended with the Camera Eye, which I managed to get through without collapsing from exhaustion. I know it's only an eleven minute track folks, but when you're as flabby and old as I am those eleven minutes feel more like eleven eternities.

True Story. Very Loud. I only heard it on song sections where there was nothing but guitar going on. I think the size would goof me up more than anything, at this point hand and arm positions are a lot of muscle memory, making the neck longer would screw me. (That's what she said)

Alright here's a dlc review. Ten is awesome. There you go. You're welcome.

Really though, as album dlc goes, this is a pretty strong batch of songs. The drums all play really similarly to Alive. By that I mean, relatively simple, but still fun, beats and fills (except for the opening of Porch which was a little tougher than I expected it to be), then you get to the section of the song where the band starts to jam a little bit, and the pace picks up some but you're still not playing anything too crazy. If I'm going to play an album in its entirety I'd rather play beats like this than something like Megadeth which is just nonstop punishment, or the Cars or Judas Priest, both of which are fun played as individual tracks, but taken as entire albums are really pretty mindless.

The bass charts are great too. They're definitely repetitive, but despite what I said about bass charts last week, I don't mind repetition if the patterns I'm playing are actually interesting. Which these certainly are.

As far as the guitar goes, this whole album was just a giant exercise in humiliation for me. I crashed and burned on nearly half the album, and the songs I could beat I still only got like, a star and a half or something ridiculous like that. That probably says more about my total lack of shredding skills than it does about the playability of these songs though. We have a few genuine guitar gods in Camp Freddy and I'd be really interested to know what they thought of these songs. I will give props to the guitar solo on Black though, which is REALLY easy, but still sounds face meltingly awesome. As a ****ty guitar player, I approve of these sorts of solos. I'll also give props to Jeremy. Usually I don't care too much about crowd sing alongs one way or the other, but when the crowd sings along with Eddie Vedder's woohoohooo's or whatever the hell he's saying at the tail end of the song its really pretty epic.

I haven't tried singing these yet, so I'll leave a review of the vocal charts to my friend Fishheadstewy, who I'm sure is going to be along any time now with some thoughts of his own. I'm gonna go out on a limb though and guess that singing these songs involves a lot of "Uhhhuhhuuaaaa's" and "Yeahyeahyeahyeeeeeeaaaahaa's."

I'm back , with my review of this weeks dlc. I really cant see what the great hoopla was about getting this as dlc. After singing the album first time around i pretty much was ready to slit my wrists. 2nd time was ready to slit my ankles. Lol seriously i guess i must be wrong theres millions upon millions who love this group but im not one of them..Now that was reveiew for Vox.... Guitar was something diff, i loved playing pretty much all the tracks (thats cause i still play hard guitar) not sure if id have enough hair on expert. Bass i play mostly expert & i thought Mr Funk had it just about right on his bass review. I know ill prob get 1 mill of hate mail for my view on my vox review but sorry Freddys thats just my thoughts..

i guess i will throw a few review comments of my own in for good measure. I have to agree with funkdiggity with the blanket statement "Ten is awesome". I primarily play bass so let me say there are definitely some challenges here. and while sometimes bass can be reduced to simply learning the pattern, these charts throw some twists at you. Unfortunately the songs that i love to listen to most are the most boring ones on bass. Guitar... i'm typically a 5 star expert guitarist as well, and these songs have some interesting charting. Evenflow owned me. Black was harder than i thought it would be. Garden just dumbfounded me at first. Very surprising, and all very awesome. Vocals.... what can i say? I love this album and can mimic eddie vedder nearly flawlessly. The end of porch is about the most fun i've had singing. eddies freestyle, oooohs, aaaaahs, mmmmmms, and woohooos, are tough to match at times though. Those are the only parts that break my vocal combos. You definitely need a good set of lungs, there isn't much breathing room in some of these songs. Happy to say i Gold Starred Jeremy on sightread. Drums I can't comment on. Not nearly expert enough on drums to have an opinion. Yes. "Ten is awesome".

It should be noted that this may be somewhat biased by the fact that I loved this album to begin with. It was the first album i owned on CD back in 1991 and got some heavy rotation in my player. I know it like the back of my hand. Fishheadstewy admittedly and amazingly has never heard any of these songs before and has quite the opposite opinion of them. Not hating on him for it, just mentioning it to point out that any review should be taken with a grain of salt. The actual truth probably lies somewhere in between the gloom and the glow.
