I don't want to be the typical over-reacting poster on these boards, but I have to say this much; is there a possibility that this is false advertisement? Every single download on the Xbox 360 Marketplace for Rock Band DLC has the following line in it somewhere:

"These song game tracks are exactly the same (unless expressly noted as a special version or remix)."

To date, none of the alternate versions we've gotten as DLC (Red Tandy, One Of Those Nights, 3's & 7's, Last Resort) have been marked as such. They are in effect advertising one thing and selling us another. I'm not so much angry about that as I am surprised that no one's been looking at these songs carefully enough to point out when you're going to be purchasing something different.
    /facepalm

I expected better of you, I really did.

Cherokeesam stated it perfectly just above you. This is the raw track without the heavy editing and studio trickery that was needed to clean it up.

I wouldn't say that's necessarily true. They aren't selling us something different if the same master is being used, just one had studio magic put on it that wasn't part of the master (like possible Last Resort). And One of Those Nights wasn't marked as such because of an honest mistake - HMX was given the wrong masters. HMX may not have realized the masters were different until the song was released. No idea on Red Tandy or 3's & 7's... I've never heard the originals of those so I don't even know the difference.

The gutiar chart looks a lot like the chorus from the Children of Bodom song.

I never said it was anybody's fault. His original vocals suck-I'm OK with that, and know that studio "polishing" happens. But surely somebody that works for Harmonix would have known that this master track blows when they heard it, and could have said something about it to the persons providing the master. There's a possibility that the person providing the master provided the wrong one,and never intended to provide the recording that we're hearing. If nobody complains, then Harmonix thinks all is well, and never knows about it.

I played it on guitar and the first thing I noticed was this very thing. It sounded.... strange.

Didn't notice much of it when I sang it though, but that's probably because I was singing so loud that I couldn't hear Jacobi

Point is, it's still not the same version of the track that is for sale on their albums or singles, etcetera.

    Sorry to disappoint.

You've taken that line out of context... Put it back in the context of the actual disclaimer first.

Many Rock Band song game tracks are available as both a multipack and as a single game track. These song game tracks are exactly the same (unless expressly noted as a special version or remix). Be aware that it is possible to download the same song game track twice so please carefully consider your purchases.
The line you point out is notifying users that if there's a pack that contains a song, the version in the pack is the same version as the single unless otherwise noted. That's why the next line warns people to be careful not to download singles they've already purchased as parts of packs...or vice versa.

It has nothing to do with the song in the game comparred to the version on the actual album or heard on the radio.

I don't mean to sound rude, but it's bad enough people have come to think "May change during online play" is clearance for M-Rated DLC....I'd hate to see that disclaimer get turned into another huge mess like that.

The main riff is also pretty much ripped off of Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name:"
