There was nothing arrogant about what I said. Alternative Rock was a music scene/movement and nothing more. Unless you can tell me how the Pixies, Guided by Voices, fIREHOSE, R.E.M and Butthole Surfers sound the same or even similar.

I wouldn't call the Pixies to sound similar to R.E.M or the Butthole Surfers....though that's just me

They were alternative in that they were not hard rock, heavy metal, or punk I think was the original idea. My casual observation. Im definately not the go-to-guy on anything alternative related, though.
