I have heard that the Kiosks are quite entertaining, there is a Guitar Hero setup at one of the local pizza places here in town and folks tell us it's pretty fun to practice on in-between our shows. I know both of our venues prefer the personal touch that we, along with all of you here on this forum, give to our venues. As independent Rock Band Nights Providers we all provided the kind of entertainment that will not be replaced by a Kiosk, or even a full unmanned setup, sitting in the corner. A kiosk cannot buy DLC every week, will not call up a band to play and put them in the spotlight so they can show of their best moves to Painkiller. Kiosks have a very hard time with organizing a Battle of The Bands contest and it is next to impossible to get a prize out of them. Kiosks neither buy nor sell burgers, fries or any kind of beverage, unlike their human counterparts. We can only hope over time MTV and Harmonix will see us as a valuable asset and provide some additional support to us lowly independent providers.

PS a 22" flat panel monitor is what I use for our drum tv

Hell, I had been hosting "Bar Nights" for a year and half before the program was even created and had great success. The program fully supports us individual providers in a round about way and the success of your business should not be dependent on what the program can and will offer. I assure you that "MTV and Harmonix already see us as valuable assets". They have gathered plenty of information, ideas, and feedback from us in order start this program. In the same regard, I see the game Rock Band as a valuable asset to my business since it is the main service I provide and the reason my company was started in the 1st place. I mentioned a few posts back that this is a mutually benificial partnership and we really shouldn't feel intitled to anything (this kinda reminds me of the people who gripe about the DLC every week ). If providing bar night services is something you are really serious about, patience, creativity, hard work, and persistance will provide you more assistance than any "official program" is going to.

I think there may be some misunderstanding as to the nature of the posts. For the most part, we agree wholeheartedly with what you've said here. We too have been providing Rockband Nights for some time now and are doing very well, with or without MTV/Harmonix help. There is no bitterness here (disappointment might be a better word), nor do we feel entitled to anything other than common courtesy. And therein lies the problem at the moment. I've been a Mod/Adviser on another board for a company considerably larger than Harmonix (albeit a different industry) and have been in the entertainment industry since 1972, so I do have a little bit of experience with the way "things" operate . We've attempted communication via both email and postings in both forums and other than your response we've gotten "NBC" (nuthin' but crickets) as of late. Several months ago, there was good two way communication, but for some reason (at least for us, maybe not for yourself) this has changed. We're not talking "crabbing" sessions either, just simple questions like "who is your target audience", "what exactly does a membership entail", and "do you have swag available", etc. While the last post did vent a little frustration about the as you put it "LOL! Once again, this is aimed more at the bars themselves as opposed to the Bar Night Providers." , it was not intended as a whine session. Previous posts were however a little bit of a fishing expedition, an attempt to find out from other providers if the one way communication was occurring membership wide, or did we just accidentally slip through the cracks and get lost in the shuffle. Hopefully, either way, the situation can be remedied. At the end of the day, we love Rockband and what the franchise can offer, and will continue to offer RBBN to our patrons, as well as give away hundreds of dollars in merchandise purchased with some of the proceeds. It's a great little business for those that are willing to put in the time and effort.

I picked up one of these kiosks yesterday and have spent the better part of today cleaning it up, repairing broken pieces, etc.

One thing I've come across is that the buttons don't function on the television. I don't want to have to burden the owner of the location where it is going to be living with yet another remote to be responsible for.

The television is a LN22B360 and I've looked all over the menus for a way to unlock the buttons on the television, but have had no luck.

Anybody got any ideas?

I picked one up Friday.
Haven't even turned it on yet (two major gigs this weekend).

So far it looks mint save a tuning peg on one guitar (no functionality missing).

Just a big shout out to MTV Networks for the donated gift.

Gentlemen,

A connector needs to be seated in the side panel pcb. It was unplugged before delivery to the sites. Three screws hold the back cover in place; one at the center top, and one in each bottom corner. When you remove the back cover you will immediately see what is preventing use of the buttons on the TV. Just reconnect, reassemble, and voila!, your free TV is now fully usable (minus the stand of course...).

Yep, I discovered this when I had to take it apart to fix a screw plate that came loose from the VESA mount point. (The store I got mine from actually still had the box for the tv, so mine has a mount. Nyah!)

Hey, is anyone else going to the Night Club and Bar Convention in Vegas today or tomorrow? I decided to go at the last minute so I can meet the Bar Night crew in person.
