Hey there all. I'm interested in getting RB Nights started down in Orange County, CA somewhere. I have plenty of equipment...large flat TV, sound, controllers, Roland E-Drums setup for RB use, etc. I'm wondering how some of you market yourselves and sell yourselves to the bars and venues. I tried calling and leaving a message with Crooked Tree but haven't heard back. I also tried contacting rockbandnightsla.com so that we don't directly compete against each other, but I guess there was a problem with the phone connection and when I tried calling back I couldn't get anyone to answer. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Lormax, Welcome to the wonderful world of Rock Band Bar Nights

I would highly suggest reading through all the posts in this thread for all kinds of helpful hints and tips for starting up a bar night including the different methods we use to market and sell these services. It may seem like it will take forever but its really not that bad and you will learn a lot. If you have other more specific questions after that, post up here and we will be glad to help you out. Good Luck!

Ah, I should have mentioned that I took the better of two days to read through this post already I've read through that you all offer different setups depending on the venue's space and needs, etc, as well as everything else posted. Just looking for some more info and ideas on what you do to actually get a meeting with a bar owner, what you present to sell yourself, etc.

My first thoughts was a binder of sorts that you can hand him/her as you're talking to him, with photographs of the setup, the setup in action, a list of songs, etc. I think it's obvious that I'd need a set of business cards. Is it mostly walk-in based, asking to speak with the GM/owner, or do you call to setup an appointment? Do you approach bars that already have established karaoke nights, offering "more"? If you'd rather talk via phone, I'd love that. Thanks again!

You are difinetly on the right track. I've always found the best way to book a venue is to stop by in person and ask for a manager or owner. Never take up too much of there time since they may or may not be extreemly busy. I always leave a tri-fold brochure with some general info, web site, and my contact email and number. It's also good to ask for there card or information before you leave so you can call and follow up later if you havn't heard anything. Sometimes you have to be persistant, and some times they book you on the spot. Every owner/manager is different and every venue has diferent circumstances for booking entertainment. If you need any more specifics or sales pitch ideas, feel free to contact me. All my info can be found at www.deathofthearcade.com . Good Luck!

    Hi folks,

    Anyone in the Vegas area?
Can you get with me and send me your contact info to miguel@rockbandatlanta.com?

I have a lead for an event planner that wants to get setup with an event, but obviously that is outside my region so I thought I'd pass it along, but he needs the info ASAP.

    Thanks.

Maybe I missed the post about it, but is the Bar Nights program completely gone? I want to believe that it's just down while the new website gets sorted out, but I can't find any info about it in any of the other forums.

So far no more support for local.rockband.com.

Also anyone else bummed about dropped support for the stage kit?

That was a major part of our shows.

I sent an email to the Bar Nights program to see if this is temperory or if they have permanently dropped support of the program. I have not received a response yet.

I never really used the stage kit too much on Bar Nights due to the difficulty of choosing songs with the controller (no RB for alphabet selection). I always use a manual fog machine and sound activated lights instead. I can see how it would take away from the show though since the lights and fog where programed special for each song. You should be able to find suitible replacements with regular DJ lighting without losing too much awesomeness.

    Talking Good News!!

It appears that the Bar Night program is not dead. I received an email notification that the web page is currently being redesigned and improved to work out some of the issues that it's had in the past. No confirmed date on when it will be re-implemented into the new site but I'm just glad to hear that the support for it has not been dropped. Just have some patience I guess
