I started one two weeks ago. Buisness is still slow, but I just need to put a little more effort into promoting it. For right now, it's just a mic and guitar set up and I let anyone that comes up the option of trying either. As for payment, since Karaoke is offered at no charge to customers, I am not taking any payment from the bar owners and instead am offering to do this for free. I figured if they're going to let me do this, that's payment enough. They did suggest that I put out a tip jar and that's what I'm going with.

We are Looking RockBand lovers for Rock Band Nights in San Diego, CA. because, we are interested in to promote RockBand Nights.

We have a Venue fully equiped with all necessary to get a RockBand Nights.
RockBand Instruments, BOSE Sound, Mics SHURE Super 55, and a great Stage.

Actually we use it to Karaoke Nights, but, If we could get some RockBand Lovers, could to open the Venue with a couple of nights to make a test.

We are in El Cajon Blvd. and we are a Family place (all ages)

I would like to Spread the voice to get some RockBand Lovers to make a test group and maybe we could make that this works.

You may not know that the RB stage kit now works on RB3 now. I've also did a Mod that replaces the fogger with a simple red green lazer light. you can buy on ebay for 25 bucks. They mount inside right on the fogger bracket and and you can power it using the terminals that run the pummper. Now instead of over fogging you out it give you a very nice lazer show durring the q's for fog. This unit has some nice modes that it play's to music you just need to drill a hole beside where the fog came out for the mic on the unit. I went a little further and removed the back fo the unit and cut out the back of the fogger to gain access to the verious modes. You have to extend all the wires to do that but not difficult to do. I was going to provide a video of this but the lazer kept hiting the camara senser and made it go out of focus.
I'll try again and send a link.

    HI all.

I've been a part of the forums for a few years, sparingly posting and what not. I've mostly played rock band for enjoyment and occasionally have thrown some fierce parties at home. We've hosted over 10 parties over the past 5 years and during a few we had over 3 rock band rigs setup around the house.
Now i've invested some time and money for my own personal use while seeing what kind of possibilities there are in hosting rock band events in and around the boston/cambridge area.

I'm slowly reading through this thread and when i'm done i'll see what things i can borrow from you all to see what works and what might be fun to add. Thanks in advance and I hope I can spawn some ideas for you all as well.

Doing regular gigs now :-) just having a break over the new year to fine tune the equipment.
But running the nights as a Karaoke/Rock Band combination.
Enouraging those who like to sing to get up (they don't need much encouraging) - but also their mates who "DON'T SING" - most can be persuaded to get on the drums, especially if the main rock band players are having a break - that way we can turn the volume down on the kit and let them use the practice mode for a few minutes.
Once they are away with the basics - its time to risk a song (on as hard a level as they can manage).

Using a full electronic kit so its pro drums
Also full keyboard - Pro keys
and range of guitars - Basic RB guitars, mustangs and a Fender Squier
On the occasion we get some good musicians in - some jam along with a guitar plugged into a practice amp - or they use the Squier.

But had to use a mixing desk as I found very early on that when Rock Band 3 is played through a larger amps/speakers it has a low bass rumble which muffles the vocals quite a bit (sadly on Beatles rock band there is no way to sort this problem to make the vocals clearer without bypassing the RB mics and using XLR ones).

Using DMX lighting effects so with everything set up it does look quite impressive - and keep getting rebooked so happy bunny :-)

Some good points from this year

Landlady asking for the sound to be turned down a bit after investing in the mixer desk.
Someone had asked for Smells like Teen Spirit - and we were rattling the houses windows down the street.

The whole venue singing along to "We are the Champions"

Getting a couple of players up who are in a local band, to play instruments they don't normally play - myself on lead and vocals - "Crazy little thing called love" and realised that we had people dancing infront of the speakers - thats quite an addictive feeling

So at the moment we're in talks with some people who run gaming nights in general in Boston, like Lesley University, Game Over and a Bruins Blog that hosts gatherings in the area... to host RB events for them.

I appreciate all the info from this forum, especially this thread, as it helped us along in getting some great ideas that are actually extremely helpful and easy to put together.

I would love to share my experiences with the rest of the group, but I was worried that these forums have gone "stale".

I recently sent Harmonix an email in hopes to maybe get some support since we're right in their back yard.

Anyways thanks guys and I appreciate all your helpful insight!

    Share away.
We're listening. When someone posts, I get an email so if I have something to add, I will reply.

Regarding support from Harmonix, I think you may have to specify what you mean by support.

In my experience, Harmonix has been very supportive. They have even been known to share surplus promo items to those that run events regularly.

Having said that, I would ask folks to set their expectations appropriately. I think most people do, but the last thing I would want someone to do is request help or items and be disappointed or worse vengeful, if they don't get the response they think they should get.

If you reach out to Harmonix on running RB events and get a response, good. If they offer to send some cool stuff your way, brilliant!

Even that I think is above and beyond.

They have a lot on their plate.

My recommendation would be to check out the Rock Band night at the local Boston Improv (you might even see me there on occasion).

Also, Pax East is coming up and if you cannot make it to the show where you will be face to face with many HMX folks (introduce yourself, tell them what you do), you should keep an eye open for a public event they host the Thursday night before. Again you will have a chance to say hello and participate.

You also have us so if there is a specific question you have, please ask. We probably forgot the specifics of most of what was covered already, so we'll likely post an answer rather than tell you to go read the previous posts (even though you should review them).

Lastly, I started RockBandNights.com to track active events and get the word out.
My calendar is featured at RockBandAide.com: http://www.rockbandaide.com/calendar/

If you have a web page, facebook page, or twitter, please share so I can stay up to date with you and your events.

That goes for everyone else too if you'd like your event or venue to be tracked.

Last I saw one of these calendars, it was clearly out of date and unusable. It's great to see this option — I just linked it to my gmail account. It looks like I should take a road trip to Philly on a Wednesday night at some point this year, how fun would that be? Oh, so it's a competition? Ah, people living in competition —all I want is to have my peace of mind.

And I feel like this is the year to go to PAX East, if I'm ever going to go. But I'm pretty shy in crowds of strangers, that's as good of an excuse as I can come up with for not spending hundreds of dollars to fly up there and get a hotel. Philly is a lot easier for me.
