I'd like to get some feedback from you guys that know more about audio/visual than I do and I know pretty much nothing. I've bought everything I need to run this show minus a projector screen/tv for the audience to view, and a PA system. If it's absolutely necessary to get a place signed I'll buy them, but I'm thinking I may not have to worry about it at this point.

I decided to go with a split HDMI signal for visual. I bought a 4X splitter from monoprice and got some 25ft HDMI cords. I have a 32" LCD for the band, and a 22" HD monitor for the drummer but it's VGA. So I bought a VGA/HDMI adapter to solve that.

Most bars that I've been in have a television or projector hooked up to their PA system. If I plug into their screen, wouldn't it be pretty easy for them to plug that into their sound system? I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to this stuff so I appreciate any input I can get on it.

Wow a lot of questions getting answered

Love it, hey everyone I'm not really on the boards much but I do have every song on my PS3 for RB, except the Lego stuff. I have been wanting to do a Rock Band night myself, but was wondering how you guys deal with the people having to go through your songs trying to find something they want to play. Do you have a list printed out so they can choose before they go up or do you just let the people go on stage and wing it?

This is a great site. Donate $5 to the site admin and you can break songs down by genre, artist, alphabetical, you name it and it will create a song book you can title for you. WELL worth the $5.

Diablos, you'll definitely need song books so people can choose ahead of time, otherwise you'll have people sitting around for ages while someone chooses a song..

What he said, that's a great site. All you do is tick the songs you have and it'll organise them into booklets for you.

Flopnuts: I think you'd want to connect your audio directly to their mixer or sound system. Running it through the TV will probably result in some not so good sound and distortion at higher volumes.

What sort of audio out ports does the PS3 have?

I actually didn't know it, but you can go into the settings and set video to hdmi output and audio to component. Makes my life much easier.

Hello all. 1st time poster. Been lurking for sometime but decided to go ahead and make an account. I'm an avid rocker and thought about doing this for a very longtime. First and foremost I noticed atleast one person already either doing or thinking about doing this in the Atlanta area... Anyone in Athens, GA??

Very nice. Does it have an RCA option? Then you could simply run a white/red RCA cable straight into their mixer with some 1/4" jacks.

    Thanks

I'll check that site out I've always wanted to try hosting a bar night or something, it always tends to take a bit long when people fumble around through the songs trying to find something they would like.

Welcome to the forums. www.rockbandatlanta.com would be the guy who is running things there. I have no idea where Athens is in relation to Atlanta but but I'm sure if you got in contact with him, you guys could help eachother out.

Again, I would advise against going strictly HD. It's expensive and un-necessary. It also extremely limits you from patching into most "house" video systems which typically only use RCA (composite). And we all know, the more TV's the better the show!! Later

I appreciate the input, and fully admit I know next to nothing about the video options I have. I got a 4 way HDMI splitter for about $55 and picked up 25' HDMI cords for $10 a piece. From there I got a VGA/HDMI cable for my drummer monitor for about $7. I could return all that stuff and go the composite route if it's cheaper, but from what I'm seeing it will cost me more to go the composite route. I am concerned about not being able to plug into a house TV and am looking for some way to convert from HDMI to component for that purpose. I'll take any help anyone can give me on it. It's the one area I'm completely uneducated.
