"Power Ballads", rock ballads, whatever you wanna call them - recommendations?

I typically don't buy compilation CDs, especially a certain series with the "NOW" tag. But yesterday I saw their new Now: Power Ballads and it looked pretty neat, so I bought it. I like it a lot, though I'm disappointed the Aerosmith song they chose was I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. I like their ballad Angel a lot more, but I suppose the former makes sense since it's more famous.

I've been getting into rock ballads lately, so I've been wondering if people here can recommend more for me to check out. You guys have pointed me to great music (directly or indirectly) in the past so thought this was a good place to ask.

To give you a start, here are the songs on the new CD. Please recommend something NOT these.

Poison – "Every Rose Has Its Thorn"
    Journey – "Faithfully"
    Aerosmith – "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
    Def Leppard – "Love Bites"
    Whitesnake – "Is This Love"
    Heart – "Never"
    Cheap Trick – "The Flame"
Bad English – "When I See You Smile"
    Night Ranger – "Sister Christian"
Survivor – "The Search Is Over"
Sheriff – "When I'm with You"
    Scorpions – "Still Loving You"
Slaughter – "Fly to the Angels"
    Extreme – "More Than Words"
Mr. Big – "To Be with You"
    Tesla – "Love Song"
    Warrant – "Heaven"
    Queensr˙che – "Silent Lucidity"

    Thank you in advance!

'Anthem to the Estranged' by Metal Church is probably the best ballad I've ever heard.

'A Tale that Wasn't Right' by Helloween would be a good choice too, I think.
    There's nothing like a crisis in mid-life.

Seriously, they left out "Don't know what you got until it's gone" by cinderella? Best power ballad ever. There's no way that song can come on the radio and not cause everyone in the car to belt it out.
Does anyone chart anymore? le sigh.

They put "Never" by Heart on it? That doesn't even make sense, it was like the rockingest single of that period. "Alone" would make the most sense or "These Dreams".

Hard to imagine that group of songs didn't include "18 and Life" or "I Remember You" from Skid Row.

"When the Children Cry" by White Lion is a good one.

    Miles Away - Winger
    Carrie - Europe
Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse
I Remember You - Skid Row
    Alone Again - Dokken

I can't say how disappointed that Cinderella didn't make this list.
Not removing this until Oscar-rio gets a sex-change!!

I think I'm on the record with my outright hatred of "Silent Lucidity" but power ballads are a guilty pleasure of mine I am ashamed to admit. I would have had "What it Takes" by Aerosmith and "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake instead of their choices.

I can remember many a late night band practice devolving into silly power ballad covers. For some reason girls would rather hear you do a bad version "I Remember You" than a pretty good version of "Death Comes Ripping." Go figure.

"Never Let You Go" by Steelheart. Firehouse made me think of that one. Two songs that repulsed me in high school

Or what about "Dream On"... anything is better than that abortion of a tune they selected, including Crazy Cryin' Amazing.

That's hot. I'd totally be your girlfriend in high school.
