Making online bands?

I wondered something about this game. How the hell do you get different band members from other places in your band. Do you have any try-outs for your band. Or do you just get some random people and make a band? Or do you play with people and ask them to join your band?

Yeah or people within an existing community will make their own band. Like 'The IGN Band' or 'The Game Informer' band for example which would include staff members from their respectable jobs.

I imagine it will work like any other clan system. Here's my version of how it should (and might, potentially) work:

When you first start up Rock Band, you'll log on, maybe do a quick play (or the equivalent), and have a blast rocking out to whatever song happens to be up. Maybe you liked that singer, and want to see if she's already in a group. You send her a message (via an in-game iteration of the 360/PS3 messaging system), and she says no, she's not in a band yet; she only recently joined and is looking for one. You then send her an invite to your band, Bloody Fingers, and she accepts. From then on, when she's online (at this point, I degrade into wild speculation), you can let her know that you're going to be playing a gig, and she can follow a link to the wait room of whatever song is up. (Here, I kind of envision a rock-ified version of the Halo 2 lobby, for example, or even something 3d, like a Home-ish version of a backstage room) Meanwhile, your drummer and bassist (who you invited earlier in the same manner) show up, and the four of you play the gig together, record your playthrough and upload it to the server for others to view.

While I'm thinking about it, this goes out to Harmonix: you should include a mode where you can watch bands jam in real time. Nothing quite like watching other people struggle through the same hard songs that you have trouble with.

I would like to see a battle of the bands. Where there is tryouts and if you make it you perform head to head against other bands for a title. That would be pretty cool

From what I've read, there'll be a matchmaking system similar to Halo 2's. So you log on, it matches you up with people, you play, etc. You should be able to make friends/clans.

Battle of the bands is a great idea.

WOW, yea, i never thought of that, but that may be hard since it would probally lag since their are (up to) 8 people...but that would be fun

Frequency and Amplitude played fine even over dialup, and the timing was even more strict than in GH. Don't worry, I'm sure the netcode will be fine and lag free.
