not bad at all, dude! there were some good ideas going around in there and more variation than what i expected from someone new to recording drones.

it may just be youtube's compression, but i'd really like to hear more dynamics in the track in addition to a more smooth mix overall.
also, i think more bass would really help whether it be an actual bass guitar or perhaps from keys.
i also agree that a more subtle intro would be great... you nailed the outro though.

Thanks for the tips! I'm not sure if YouTube's compression is the reason for the sound quality or just the fact that I don't use great software. I tried to use the fact that my recordings are low in quality to my advantage with all of the distortion and static.

Out of curiosity, have you ever had any drone projects? I know you've been in a bunch of bands, but I wasn't sure if you've gone there at all.

what kind of software are you using? i understand wanting to remain lo-fi, but i can point you in the direction of some good stuff.

and yeah, i've had quite a few drone projects ranging from noise/pure drone to drone-metal to psych/folk drone.

i've been working on a concept album that probably falls somewhere in the noise/drone field that i may upload some samples of sometime soon to get some feedback (LOL@MYPUNS).

The software I use is GarageBand. I messed around with its crappy distortion options among a few other effects like a bitcrusher and a slight phaser. I've used Audacity before just for manipulating audio (reversing and changing speed mainly).

And that's pretty intense that you're working on some drone concept albums. I would definitely love to hear that.

It's Head I by Francis Bacon. He was a painter and made some pretty awesome stuff.
