Switching consoles and have a question?

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and switch consoles. Just not sure if I want the xbox or ps3..

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. Am I SOL for the DLC I already purchased for the Wii? It pretty much sux, since I have purchased quite a bit of DLC for the Wii, I really hate to be out all that money, and then have to purchase it all over again.

Yep. As far as Xbox and PS3 go, go for the Xbox if you want the stage kit.

I don't care about the stage kit.. Something I would never use..

I just don't want to have to wait 3 years to get the back catalog of the songs that I want.. I really want the Peace Sells album and that will probably be the last thing to get released for the Wii..

Oh and the whole storage space problem on the Wii has me flustered as well.

Edit: oh and the wife really want the Dixie Chicks tracks as well.

If you are only going to play with it, I would say the Xbox. If you want a multimedia device that can comfortably sit in your living room, the PS3.

Yeah, I already have a good blu-ray player, so it will only be for games. I was torn between the two. I know for the same price the xbox has the larger hard drive, however you are capped out at 120GB for the xbox, and if I remember correctly you can put any hard drive in the PS3.

Yeah, I think you can put most any 5400rpm drive in the PS3, the drive would also be cheaper. If you have a Blu-Ray player, I'm gonna assume you have an HDTV, and the 360 doesn't come with HDMI cables (the Elite actually might, but I'm not sure).

There is honestly no best choice here. They both have their pros and cons. Depending on what extras you buy for the 360 (Wireless Adapter, different hard drives) it could actually cost more than the PS3.

i don't have an elite, but you still have the option to go HDTV with the 360, even if it doesn't go through the HDMI cables.

The reality is, you have to figure that if you are going to play MORE then just Rock Band what appeals to you the most. Both consoles offer a limited amount of "eclusive" titles, but on the whole, most games are mostly the same on both consoles. oh and 120GB is plenty big enough.

You sure can (as long as it's a 2.5" SATA drive). I recently installed a 320GB drive in my PS3 (I had a 40GB drive before), and it feels so nice to check the available space and see that I have about 240GB available even though I have several games (including RB DLC), a lot of music, and other stuff on it. Now I'll never have to delete demos and other stuff because my drive is filling up.

The big win for the PS3 in my opinion is native wireless, and no online fees. I know you can get a Linksys router and flash it with DD-WRT firmware to create an access point and bridge your 360 to your wireless network, but honestly, I didn't want to have to mess around with that. I simply plugged my PS3 in, turned on Wireless, entered my encryption key, and I was online. No hassles at all.

I know you can do it if you have a networked 360, but setting up TVersity on my computer also had me streaming wireless content from my computer in about 7 minutes flat. Movies, mp3s, etc - no hassles.

I didn't have a console last year, and really was leaning towards a PS3, but I was able to get a 20GB 360 in November for $150 after rebate. In December, I saw the Wal-Mart sale where $400 got an 80GB PS3 and a $100 gift card, so I went for it. After that, the 360 only got used to play GTA:IV, and I've since given it to my brother.

The 360 was so loud, so hot, and I was TERRIFIED of touching the box and suffering a RROD.

Personally, I love my PS3 - it looks good, it's completely functional out of the box, and is quiet as a dream.

The bad part is, I need to watch everybody enjoy cool DLC on Tuesdays while I have to wait until Thursday night.
