In a way, I'd even credit RB and GH with helping those kinds of bands immensely....if you can get a track or two on the music games, you've branded yourself a semi-permanent legacy and bought yourself exposure that's utterly invaluable in this environment.

Hmmmm..... Playing GH2 is what got me digging all things Dethklok. Thunderhorse was sweet as sh**, then got cemented by Go Into The Water(Not that stupid recording version, the original with the continuous 32nd kick beat)

If I never would've played it, I probably wouldn't have ever noticed, since I don't watch TV save for Dodger games.

No offense, but it's not even close. The Jonas Brothers have yet to have a multi-platinum album.
The Beatles are the top-selling band of all time. At one point in 1964 they had the TOP FIVE singles on the Billboard 100 all to themselves (and 5 more on the 100 besides those).

Guitar Hero/Rock Band = The new MTV?

I think this is actually pretty close to the mark. When's the last time MTV played an actual music video? In terms of exposing artists and being in touch with music culture goes, these games are a lot like the MTV from back in the day.

By "the new MTV" I didn't mean the MTV that exists today, I meant that music games were the "new" MTV in that they are like the MTV from years back in that they expose younger kids to music, but unfortunately big music fans frown upon it for the mainstream aspect or the "poser" effect. The same can be said for hot topic.
