Rock Band VS GHWT 05/07/09 DLC w/Poll

Ok the thing about music is that it is ALL subjective.

You can have a band that has had multiple platinum awards, grammys, and sold millions of albums, but if you don't personally like the sound of the band, then to you the band 'sucks.'

And vice versa, there could be a band that is terrible to most people, but others think they are the greatest thing ever, even over the above mentioned type of bands.

So this 'battle' is all subjective. Every person is going to have a different outcome on how it turns out.

That's why no one company is going to win the music game war.

Songs that are popping up in GH that some people hate, others are going to love, and the same goes for RB.

The best you can do in a 'battle' like this is state what you like and why, and that's about it.

I can declare what I PERSONALLY think are the winning tracks from each week, but that's only relevant to me, as another person will choose any number of different ways.

    Hence the poll.

That way we can see what the majority thinks.

I'll post one of these on the GH forums as well in the sake of fairness.

    Rock Band got :

Franz Ferdinand - Do you want to
    Franz Ferdinand - Lucid Dreams
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me out
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal
    Allman Bros - Blue Sky
    Allman Bros - Midnight Rider
    Distillers - Drain the Blood
    Luscious Jackson - Naked Eye
    Prong - Idealistic Types
    Prong - The Banishment

GHWT got (all were free tracks):

    Chimaira - On Broken Glass
The Devil Wears Prada - Dez Moines
    Unearth - Grave of Opportunity

A lot of people are going to argue that GHWT wins this week because of free metal. That some how free is always better no matter what.

    Gotta disagree.

While I did like them, and thought they were really solid tracks, they couldn't stand up to the onslaught of awesome that Rock Band released this week.

I thought the Unearth song was the strongest of the batch, with TDWP coming in second, and Chimaira being the weakest link.

Rock Band on the other hand came out swinging with the ten shades of kick ass Franz Ferdinand pack, followed up with a kick to the teeth from Midnight Rider, then finished it off with the spinning uppercut that is Smooth Criminal.

It's now been scientifically proven that playing Smooth criminal on any instrument will make you a God Damned sexual tyrannosaurus.

That's not taking into account the five other solid tracks released as well. Prong's the Banishment is a standout track, and Blue Sky is a guitarists dream.

Rock band started May off swinging, and dominated this week.

Whichever has the most songs I'll always go in favor of. Since GH insist on releasing only 3 song track packs, RB wins every week in my eyes.

Quantity !> Quality for me, especially since I only buy tracks that I want. But this week was definitely a RB week for me. Not a metal fan, never heard of those three, but I'm very happy to get Take Me Out and Do You Want To. One more from GH:SH that I can tick off the list.

So a 3 pack by "The Backyard Banditos" (a local garage band from Cheyenne, <which is made up by the way>) beats a 2 pack of Led Zeppelin using your logic?

    HMMMMMM... interesting....

Well, I would definitely buy the three GH tracks considering they are free, but I'm planning on buying more than three tracks for RB this week so RB wins.

While I download any free songs that are handed out (new songs are new songs) I would just as gladly purchase 3-4 songs from this week's releases.

GH is slipping big time, and seeing all of these discs coming out doesn't give me much hope that they'll turn around their DLC selection anytime soon.

i dont really see any "matchup". GH put out three weak free songs, HMX delivered Allman Brothers and Franz Ferdinand, among Prong and random singles. HMX destroyed GH this week, hands down

The GHWT tracks were better than i thought they were gonna be for free give away tracks and i cant complain at more metal but i have to say none gave me as much fun as Blue Sky did for guitar. That aside i really liked Drain the Blood and the Franz songs and that aweful MJ cover will go downwell when the mates come over so its a rather comprehensive win for Rock Band this week, this is the real benefit of releasing DLC with such diversity as someone will like at least one song of it.
