His guitar composition is obnoxious and crap.

Mostly true, but he does have some cool riffs.

    Gowie

+ Soviettes, Ladytron, Devo, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Jesus Lizard, Replacements, Sly & Family Stone
~ Razorcuts, L7, Blind Melon, Liz Phair, Less Than Jake, Kevin Devine,
    - Iced Earth

    6/10
I took the time to listen to at least 2 songs of each of the bands I didn't already know of that had 8 or more listens. Nothing grew on me. Some stuff I enjoyed, some I thought sounded boring and Iced Earth, well, I may be picky and annoying with metal, but I can't stand the overly repetitive fantasy imagery. You have a good number of plays, though.
I'm aware that hearing 2 songs to discover an artist isn't sufficient, but I judge it fairly enough to bring this thread back to life.

It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.

    Insane3:

+ PJ Harvey, The Clash, Tom Waits, Broken Social Scene, Edward Sharpe, The National, Fever Ray, Nick Cave, Velvet Underground
    ~ Bjork, James Blake
    - Moby

Solid, solid. Nothing really blew me away, but almost all stuff I like. Plays aren't overly high, but not much less than me, so I guess I can't complain.
    7/10

Fair bit of folksy stuff this week.

+ Casket Lottery, IceAge (didn't know about them), GY!BE
~ Coliseum, Trap Them, Small Brown Bike, These Arms are Snakes, Nachtmystium,
    - nothing really

    6.5/10
This is all about taste I guess. I'm really not into hardcore and I'm picky about metal. But these are not generic overpopular artists so yeah, nothing I dislike really.

R2R, didn't you used to praise James Blake and Gorillaz 'round here?

The former is still good, just isn't as good as my +es, and I can definitely see that I overrated it when compared to a lot of the electronic stuff I've heard since then, and I burnt out on Gorillaz big time, took a break, and came back after some more varied listening (non-p4k, essentially, though I'm hardly anti-p4k or anything) and found that it really doesn't satisfy me anymore.

Fair enough! I can still only listen to Gorillaz occasionally.
