i'm not as ridiculously obsessed with classical like i was a few years ago, but i still listen to a good deal and am becoming more confident in incorporating the influence into my own music (which is usually the first step in me getting a little worn out on any style of music).

Out of curiousity, how are incorporating it? I've always thought that bands that are influenced by classical (especially prog) only take longs songs and complicated rhythms from it, when there's so many other components to it, like forms and harmony

aside from the obvious answers of "texture", "subtlety", and whatnot i'm really drawing more from that "each entrance and exit of an instrument is at least as important as what is played" style of refinement that i didn't pay much attention to previously...

additionally, i'm simply finding myself playing more piano and less guitar...
