share your recent discoveries in this thread.

discovered a new artist or album you were previously unfamiliar with? this is where you flaunt that junk!

here's a few for last week...

torngat: post-rock with slowcore and jazz leanings.

the khayembii communiqué: really good (and rather rough) screamo.

dragging an ox through water: aquarius name-dropped both arthur russell and neutral milk hotel in their review of this album, so yeah wow.

gruesome stuff relish: for fans of carcass, basically.

    ganglians: really unique lo-fi psych-pop.

Not really discovering a new band or whatever, since I see their name all the time, but getting a taste for Radiohead after having 4 of their albums for about a year is a somewhat major breakthrough for me.

Thanks to Progdor I discovered Bigelf - Progressive Stoner Rock

My own venturing had me discover (now one of my favorite 4th wave Prog. bands) Echolyn - Symphonic Prog.

The vast and varied works of the Riddick brothers:
    http://www.riddickbros.com/riddickbr...d/sound_00.htm

Mostly metal, medieval, folk, and ambient oriented. That page doesn't mention Unburied and Fetid Zombie, also Mark Riddick projects.

    Azure Emote:

I'd say it's an avant-garde project that fuses death/extreme metal with electronic sounds in a fairly creative way.

    TODAY:

Listened to a really really badass czech band called Root. Some blend of black and even some doom in there.

Also listened to some Darkestrah thanks to Nuff.

And some old school metal by a band called Anvil that I have previously glossed over.

Louis Jordan-Fun older rock and roll, who can't laugh at Big Bess?

Vanity Theft-Local hard rock band that I discovered a few weeks back, I enjoy them immensely although I sure the rest of you wouldn't agree.

Borgia Popes-I'm not use to this type of music but it's cool though.

Morbid Angel-I've heard of them before but I didn't check out their work, really enjoy their riffing and groove.

The Cure-Same with Morbid Angel, I like Loveflower from the listen I gave it.
I wish to be a magician of words!
