HMX at Improv Boston in Cambridge, MA on 6/18

A few HMX folks will be judging (and probably playing) a Rock Band night at Improv Boston in Central Square in Cambridge, MA this Thursday evening.

We've attended IB's RB nights for the last few months and it's always been awesome. They have a stellar crew, a really nice space, a rack of costumes, and frosty beverages to top it off. It's like a RB bar night, except not in a bar, and loads funnier.

HMX folks will occasionally sit on a panel of judges for these RB nights, and there's usually a crew of us that play, hang out in the crowd, chit chat and generally have an awesome time.

After going for my 2nd time now, I can safely say that this is the greatest Rock Band event in the history of Rock Band events.

And that the Harmonix crew are awesome.

Hey, I guess this is going on tonight. I'm new to the Boston area but am definitely gonna stop down to check this out, anyone else going? Any Harmonix people, specifically a Mr. Alex Navarro? I'd like to meet him since I know him by 6...3...umm 2 degrees of separation.

Alex was a guest on the trigames.net podcast, which I am now a part of and which is hosted by Austin Shau, who has freelanced for Alex when he worked for a certain online publication. I've also had a question answered by Mr. Navarro when he ran a featured Q+A column on the aforementioned website. So, in general, Alex is a cool cat who I'd like to meet.

Aside from him, to anyone who has been to this before, what's the etiquette like? I'm probably going over with my roommate, will we have a chance to just play without having to "perform"? Would it be inappropriate for me to bring a small digital camcorder? I like to document cool things I've been doing since moving to Boston to show off to all the friends I've left behind.
