    Frank's 2000" TV

Should be easy to get the rights for since it's not a parody. Need this song badly!

I'm pretty sure that Weird Al has the rights for all the songs he does parodies for. At least, that's what I've been told. I don't think that it will help, though.

The supreme court of the USA has ruled that transformative, derivative works (E.G. the parody songs that Weird Al does) are protected by the fair use act. As a result, Weird Al has the right to use any of his parodies in any way he wants without needing to get the rights to use the song from the original artist. In fact, with all of his parodies he doesn't need to ask permission to do it. This was highly evident in the media battle with Coolio over Weird Al's use of "Gangster's Paradise" in Weird Al's song "Amish Paradise."

So while he doesn't NEED to get permission from artists to do the parodies, he has stated numerous times that he always asks so as to avoid any disputes such as the one with Coolio.

There's plenty of originals to keep me busy.

Besides, my kids sing the Weird Al lyrics to the parodies anyway...

Its been two years since this forum started and no Weird Al DLC. I doubt it's coming.

I refuse to believe this. This is HMX we're talking about. They've put in Spongebob for crying out loud. TWICE. You don't know what they'll put out or when. And like I've said in my own thread about the subject, his music is a great fit for RB with his constant use of accordion and harmonies. Every time there's a DLC announcement I keep praying in the back of my mind that "Weird Al" will show up on there. I say we need to keep these threads alive so that HMX may actually listen to us.
