    Here is the genre breakdown:

Overall I think I did a nice job balancing the genres. Alternative and "Classic Rock" seem like they have a lot, but there are good reasons. Alternative for this list covers alt., "indie rock", post-punk, etc. Due to having 30 songs each in both the 60's and 70's, "classic rock" has a high amount of tracks. All of the "classic rock" songs come from these two decades.

Genres that are considered "niche" markets for these games, i.e. blues, country, funk, glam, goth, grunge, and reggae have a less tracks, except for funk. Funk has more tracks due to the inclusion of soul/psychedelic soul artists that are often times classified as funk. One thing I was unhappy about when I finished was having only five new wave songs. I did try to think of this from a gameplay standpoint, and a lot of new wave songs I wanted to include are very dull on guitar/bass/drums.

A genre I was happy with was metal. Twenty tracks seems fair for one of the most popular and sound-spanning genres. I tried to include songs from all of the major sub-genres, but there is not a power metal song. Also, I apologize to viking metal fans. My selections for progressive and pop rock were some of my favorite, and I think they both get good representation. For punk, I condensed emo (a sub-genre) into punk, and I ended up with 12 songs. I would have liked to have a few more, and I don't have a single song from the 2000's. Due to personal preferences, and the watered down and commercial aspects of it, I only included one nu-metal song. My selections for the very broad rock category are good, and 17 songs for those who are hard to categorize seems fair enough. Southern rock also only has two songs due to it being a redundant genre, and I refuse to classify CCR as southern rock. They are from the northern half of California for christ sakes!

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the list, but I think I can do better genre wise.

    Alternative: 26 songs
    Blues: 3 songs
    Classic Rock: 24 songs
    Country: 2 songs
    Funk: 6 songs
    Glam: 4 songs
    Goth: 1 song
    Grunge: 4 songs
    Hip-Hop: 2 songs
    Metal: 20 songs
    New Wave: 5 songs
    Nu Metal: 1 song
    Pop Rock: 11 songs
    Progressive: 10 songs
    Punk: 12 songs
    Reggae: 1 song
    Rock: 17 songs
    Southern Rock: 2 songs
