I think a tornado is coming very shortly. This is crazy.

The reported tornado was in Ross County, OH, pretty far north of Ironton, near the town of Denver.

That actually is reasonable advice (for tornadoes, not for nukes), in the case of a heavy computer desk. Large sturdy furniture that you can hide under can protect you from debris. You're better off underground if you can, but if that's not available, hiding under a sturdy piece of furniture in a central room on the lowest floor of your house away from windows is your best bet.

The only reason you'd ever consider going outside if there may be a tornado heading your way is if you have an external cellar or live in a mobile home (in which case you're better off lying on the ground in a low area outside than being anywhere in the trailer).

Its ok now, but there was heavy thunderstorms with high winds that blew down a bunch of trees behind my house. I heard three people got struck by lightning. It was pretty intense.

Yeah, there's been at least one lightning related death almost every day this month. July is peak lightning month for the US too, but people seem to be particularly stupid this year. If you hear thunder, you're close enough to get hit by lightning. Stay inside, stay alive.
