PS3's Fallout 3 DLC Delayed Until September.

Lot's of delays today.... not cool. Ok, ok, It's only 2. But still.

Bethesda Softworks promised an update on the downloadable content for Fallout 3 on the PlayStation 3 and the studio wasn't lying -- it's here. Unfortunately, there's bad news sprinkled with good news. The downloadable content, originally scheduled to begin rolling out in late June, will not be released until late September. PS3 owners, however, are getting a superior rollout for the content; Broken Steel, which raises the level cap to 30, is getting released first.

Broken Steel was released third on Xbox 360 and PC, forcing myself and many other Fallout 3 players to slog through the new post-apocalyptic adventures without any meaningful change happening to our characters, besides adding new weapons. Rolling out Broken Steel first means gamers will feel a better sense of progression as they explore the new adventures Bethseda's prepared for them. Good move.

The developer is pointing the finger at technical issues for the delay.

"We are knee deep in testing at the moment, and we’re hoping to have the first DLC out by the end of September," said Bethesda production director Ashley Cheng on the PlayStation Blog. "That long? Keep in mind that not only do we need to test each DLC on PS3, we also need to test each DLC when used in conjunction with each of the other DLC, as well as all of them together, along with the entire original game."

Currently, Bethesda hopes to release Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt around the same time -- simultaneously if possible -- and both Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta "as soon as we can, so that the wait between DLC is as short as possible."

    There's your update. Happy?

I would rather them wait and release playable DLC.

I don't want to go through the frustration 360 users had to go through back in February.

I still need to beat the main campaign anyway. I have a horrible tendency to thoroughly enjoy Bethesda games, but to still lose interest halfway through for no apparent reason. Same thing happened to me with both Morrowind and Oblivion.

I played Oblivion for 150 hours or so before I started playing the main quests. Then I lost interest and never played it again.

On a somewhat related note, I fired up Fallout 3 today and start a new game to get the trophies I had missed before, and BAM! I lost everything. I only have 1% of the trophies now I have to start all over.
