stupid question: will magma work on os x?
On another note: I am very excited yet very disappointed at the same time. I am mostly a PS3 user (although i do have a broken 360). I just think its unfair that 360 can get something utilizing something that only the 360 has (XNA), yet us PS3 users dont get something like youtube uploading (which is in the PS3 SDK).
But I really hope HMX can get sony to allow us this loop hole in paid content.

One fascinating possibility with the new RockBandNetwork is for drum DLC lessons. Imagine Roland (or any other enterprising drum teacher) packaging a web site explaining concepts and a rock band type DLC lessons for drummers to use. Benefits are that the drummers could take the lessons into practice mode to build up their speed, etc.
I don't care what the hypothetical PS3 solution for this is, I just hope there is one and that it doesn't take forever for it to come to fruition.
As a musician, I'd love to take advantage of this and get some songs in the game. But I already have a console and a Rock Band bundle for PS3 and I'm not too keen on having to buy another expensive box, another plastic guitar, and another plastic drum kit on top of the $100 XNA license it'll take for me to take advantage of this.
I wonder what will happen with regards to total RB DLC sales. Is RBN going to boost them or is it mostly going to eat into the regular DLC sales figure?
This is simply amazing, I have to say. HMXSean is right, this is a gigantic development. The number of amazing bands that can't be represented in the game is limitless. And the best part is, bands don't necessarily have to do any work themselves, they could simply sign over rights to a separate development group that would represent multiple artists. Capitalism at its finest.
Never expected this. Fantastic work, everybody.

Perhaps HMX could learn from their Pepsi work and let PS3 owners buy songs through redeeming codes. Lets say the user watches a video of the song and says they like it, they could go to the Rock Band web-site and buy it through credit card or paypal account. They get the code, redeem it, there is your song.
Album wish list: Black Sabbath, Queen II, Static Age, Ride the Lightning, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Another PS3 user here who is very excited by this idea. But wondering why it isn't possible to port the songs over to PS3 after being created with the XNA? If the XNA is used to originally make the song, I'm sure Harmonix has some kind of program even now that they use to make it identical for both platforms. So why not just do that when they are made for Xbox? Hand over the charts to harmonix and have them make new charts for PS3?? Makes sense to me?
I wonder how tiering will determined
