    RBN charting questions.

With the announcement of RBN I thought it would be fun to start trying to make note charts for music that my friends and family have released. I've run into a few problems.

One is what I'm pretty sure are buzz rolls. My step-dad's music is kinda like jazz, and the drummer plays a lot of them. The only thing I can think of would be to just chart them as 16th note triplet rolls.

Another thing that I've never heard of being in the game is brushes. Since they are supposed to be one continuous sound there isn't any way to perfectly chart them, but I thought I might try quarter or eighth notes depending on the song.

But something I'm sure Harmonix has dealt with before is notes on the guitar that don't sound like they have a particular tone, just kind of a popping or tapping sound. How would you chart those? (Also, is there a real name for them?)

One last question is about how many instruments we have to put on each song. I know we've had no singing, but would they accept my aunts music, most of it only containing vocals and guitar? I read somewhere on ScoreHero's charting company website that the songs only needed one, but has Harmonix officially commented on this?

Sorry for the wall of questions, but if anyone has any answers or suggestions for any of them, let me know!

They've officially said that there will be allowed tracks that have just a single instrument. The other questions I think come to playability. If you overchart it, it'll become dumb. If you underchart it, you'll probably realize while testing.

I think once this whole thing gets up and running, you'll have a community to talk about it with. I'm sure other people who begin charting will run into the same problems.

Try asking again next month once the Beta starts.

    Thanks for the response!
I definitely plan on putting a lot of time into making sure they're charted right. Having some experience with music games helps, but I'm sure glad there will be a peer review system in place.

Also, what do people think about charting hand drums? (bongos and congos and such)

Me personally, I'd love the use of them(hand drums).

You can download Reaper I think, but it might not be the same version we will use later.

What are the rules for censorship on your songs...say for example you submit a song with fruity lyrics (like Sir Psycho Sexy had) or swearing in abundance will this be ok with RBN and should HMX not be happy with what they hear will they retain the right to snip out the bad words before submitting the songs for download.
Hoping for more british music on RB Blitz

Yeah, I think 16th notes are gonna be your preferred choice.

I would only chart the accents (where they actually hit the drum). I can't think of a good way to emulate the constant brush movement.

They usually just pick a button on the guitar and you play it like you would a regular note. (See the intro to Should I Stay or Should I Go).

They've said that the review process is there to also catch things like that which needs to be censored. They're not going to let it slip by, and I have a feeling that's going to be one of the guidelines they publish that they give to anybody working on the content. I'd imagine every song that goes through review will have to pass through at least one member of HMX regardless of how many other reviewers see it, so it'll be stopped even if there are people who think "heehee, let's get this put in the game with all its F-bombs."
