Quick question about the Pepsi promotion (free dlc)...

Today, I entered my FIRST cap code on the pepsi website, and redeemed it for a free Wii dlc song! Sweet. Anyway, I have 2 quick questions:

1 - When I selected a song, I got a message saying that they would email the code to me. Then, when I clicked submit, I got another message saying something about being out of Wii tokens and that they would get more so I should check back. Whats up with that?

2 - I thought I read somewhere that with the Wii free dlc, you get 200 Wii points added to your account and could actually download whatever song you want, not just the ones on the site... is that true?

    Thanks.

    1) Pepsi's had trouble keeping up with demand for the Wii codes, so they sometimes run out and have to get more. If you check back in a few days, they may have more then.
    2) Yep. Or even other stuff, like Virtual Console games (but please, don't be one of those [redacted] totally abusing the promotion).

Those are both true. For whatever reason (possibly the architecture of the online store, although I know they've had codes for specific games in the past), the Wii "songs" are a redemption code for 200 points. Once people figured this out, there was a mad rush on the caps for Wii codes, and Pepsi's been running out of them all summer as a result. I know a few people that have maxed out their Wii and DSi on points...which comes out to something like $200 worth of points. Each.

As for when they'll restock, that's a tougher call. It could be in a few days, or it might not happen at all. I doubt the second option, but the promotion is beginning to draw to a close so you never know when they'll decide it isn't worth the time or effort to restock.

lol...man I should have gotten in on this sooner!!! The sad thing is that I would TOTALLY use every single point on RB DLC... just not the dlc they have listed on the site! =)

The mad rush for Wii codes is the reason there are so many losers overall these days. Wii owners are pounding the service for "free" Wii points.

I've got a Wii and, so far, the ~30 caps I've redeemed have all gone towards Rock Band DLC. I've been on a Rock Band kick lately.

Let's just say that, for the past few days, the odds of winning seem to have been tweaked again. For the better.

Wii owner, not part of the problem. In fact:

Megaman 9 I'm looking at you with your beautifully impossible levels.
I thought I was done with this promotion, I even swore to myself to never seek any more caps. Then: Stepped on an empty bottle with chewing gum stuck to it. Cap was still on. Nearly tripped. . Found that cap was a yellow Pepsi cap. Entered it. Won one more song. Now suggest a random song that I should buy with it.
No longer active under this name.

Thank you for trill and tremolo charting!
