    Woah....

    PREPARE FOR STORY

So I am taking a music appreciation class at my community college, yesterday was our second day of class and we got a homework assignment that was quite interesting, listen to a song, and write down what images where portrayed in your mind.

now I thought about what song to choose and I thought for a while, I could pick a song I listen to on a daily basis and try and understand it on a another level, but instead I chose a song that would take Patience and make me actually listen to the song

the song I chose was: Antennas to Heaven - Godspeed You! Black Emperor

now any of you who know about this band will agree that 20+ min songs don't exactly appeal to everyone (mainstream and hardcore listeners alike) especially that fact that it had no vocals

but seriously this song literally took me on a journey inside of my head I couldn't believe what I was imagining in my head it was almost like I was actually living inside of the song, about half way through the song I was staring at the cealing and I started to see images in the cealing the images portrayed a story that went along with the song, all I could think of is this song is amazing if it can do something to that extent

and GY!BE is my new favorite band because of this experience

has anyone else had an experience with a song like I did or am i just insane?

I had that experience with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, especially Blaise Bailey Finnegan III (my favourite song of theirs) and "Sleep" although the whole Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven album gives me a similar effect. I get this happening to me quite a lot (almost never when I'm at the computer though) but its especially vivid with Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor and most post-rock has similar effects on me. Whenever I just sit back and listen to post-rock it's an amazing experience.

if GYBE! doesn't affect you you're emotionally bankrupt.

then again, i'm an overly creative druggie so it's hard not to listen to music and get wrapped up in it.

This happened to me with A Change of Seasons. I liked DT before that but this song really turned me on to them.

Stuff like that happens to me whenever I listen to The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place. Technically that's an album and not a song, but it's the same idea.
It's good to be happy. There's no hope.
