either way, saying less respect should be paid to him after death because of your opinions of his actions is very selfish.

the bottom line for me is that it's incredibly tacky looking... i considered getting this GH game more than any other since GH3, but this is a mark against it in my book in a similar way that replacing the zombies in left 4 dead with assorted musicians would be... it kills the atmosphere and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

if it doesn't bother you, that's your call... we obviously have different viewpoints of the man and/or how his legacy should be handled after his death.
dude, suicide is NEVER the answer, and it IS a slap in the face, not to mention extremely selfish, to all those who invested part of their lives in you. that's universal, not simply an opinion.

and I didn't say that less respect should be paid to him, I said that, considering his situation, not to be surprised that others don't "respect" his ideals, which he himself stuck loosely to.

and, anyway, it really is as simple as not using his avatar if you want to "respect" him by doing so. others out there who loved him just as much won't mind it, even probably enjoy it. they should be deprived of the means to celebrate him in a manner they are ok with? like you said, he's not around to say different.

    Time for the Obligatory post.....

This is never going to be a settled argument, no matter how passionate you are about him or his music. No matter how you slice it Suicide is the cowards way out plain and simple, and it is an affront to his fans and the people that loved him. That being said, it shouldn't stop you from celebrating his music, and contributions that he left behind.

Now can we get back on topic, about the game itself?

I play both series, Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

However I lean towards Rock Band as I'm a Harmonix man from way back(Frequency was the start of it).

GH2 was my favorite Guitar Hero game, and Rock Band 2 is my favorite music game.

I thought Guitar Hero Metallica was the best of the Neversoft/post HMX Guitar Hero games, and I despised Smash Hits for its terrible charting choices.

Now having said all that Neversoft has really hit a home run with Guitar Hero 5.

Guitar Hero 5 is the best of the Guitar Hero series.

    Yes, even Guitar hero 2.

Not only that but this game is just as good as Rock Band 2.

If it replaces Rock Band 2 as my go to music game will remain to be seen, but it's off to a hell of a start.

The challenges add so much replayability to the setlist, and gives you something to strive for other than full combo or high scores.

Hopefully they can somehow add challenges to the imported and DLC songs as well at some point in the future.

Now if Neversoft can just get the rest of World tour, Metallica, and any other full band game to import fully into GH5's setlist, and amp up the DLC, this might be the start of the Guitar Hero platform.

If you like music games go out and get this one.

    Seriously.

You might be shocked at how much fun you have.

Specially if you have a full four player 'band' in the same room with you.

i'm afraid it is not universal and is simply an opinion. suicide is viewed differently across different cultures and ideals. sorry, but that IS a fact.

i'm not surprised, really... this is hardly the first time something like this has been done. that doesn't keep it from bugging me though.

i'm not saying anyone should be deprived of using his avatar...
i really don't care what other people do in a video game, and it's not like i'm saying i'm going to burst into tears if kurt is dancing around like a goober when i do get around to trying GH5 at a demo station, but it will probably make me feel like a bit of a goober and take away from my enjoyment of the game.

BACK TO THE REAL TOPIC. Seriously.

Anyone else having a really hard time with GH5's vocal system? I had to drop to hard for Under Pressure, and even then I only got like 2 stars (in other news, I find it great that you can get less then 3 stars. It's a real "lawl you fail" when you get less then what was the bare minimum is previous games). My best performance so far is Woman From Tokyo, which was ALMOST 4 stars.

In other words, am I just missing something or is GH5's vocal system even worse then World Tour's?
I will not remove this until Badmotorfinger is offered as full-album DLC.

Just watched the GH5 review (IGN)

And there are actually a couple of things that I'd like to see RB do.

The first thing I like about it, is that 3 Guitarists can play on GH5.

That's something that I've thought about for a while, especially with RB Beatles coming out. Because RB are selling, John, Paul and George's Guitars, yet they only support 2 Guitarists (At least I don't think it supports 3. I've never heard it mentioned, but I've never tried 'cause I only have 2 Guitars).

And I can think of a ton of bands that have 3 Guitarists. So it's never made sense to me that it wasn't an option.

And then the second thing I like about GH5 is the drop in and out system.

I've often been in the middle of long sets on Tour and then had to quit for people to join me.

So yeah, 2 things about a whole game, lol.

After seeing the review though, there's so much that's been taken from RB XD
After Beatles can we have MUSE, Queen, Guns And Roses, Foo Fighters and Bon Jovi?

Remember that in GH5, there aren't 3 guitar parts, just multiple people playing the same part. Having a part for John, Paul and George is completely different.

They play the same part? Lame (I knew same part was an option but didn't realise it was because there was no 3rd part).

    Ah well then.

Both are horrible ideas. Im glad RB has stuck to a gameplan that works perfectly.

We dont need 3 guitars. Id rather have one guitar part that is the best mix of all of the guitar parts. And one bass part.

So you had to quit? Big whoop.

I think 2 guitars is fine as it is and the tracks usually cover both guitar's notation.

It would be a touch of cool to have a Rhythm Guitar, but not every song will be able to provide one and you'll be functionally doing the exact same thing Bass players already do, so it would just be in excess. Keep gameplay in mind, rather than "Man, we're just like The Beatles!"

Guitar player is noodling around the notes, Bass player is keeping the beat, Drum player is providing the beat, singer is hollering whatsits.

2 guitars/1 singer/1 drummer gives the broadest approach and makes it easiest to net the most amount of songs with, I believe.
