A good Beatles list to hold you over til Wednesday

    http://magazine.jamsbio.com/2009/01/...ate-countdown/

A 185 song countdown (all of their songs, not including covers) from worst to first.

It's actually a really good read, especially if you play the songs he writes about while you read it. Don't buy EW for their stupid list, this one is pretty excellent. It took me two days to actually read entirely.

Didn't EW post All You Need is Love as both the 50th greatest Beatle song and the fifth worst? That just made a massive wormhole in the Beatles discography, seemingly making it irrelevant, just so they could have a bad editorial joke.

Now the young kids will think the Beatles only have like 55 songs...
    Also, I have butter cookies!

Nope they said it was the worst song.
    My three favorite bands.
    1. The Beatles
    2. The Grateful Dead
    3. The Who
Looks like I picked the right game!

Don't even talk about EW anymore. You'll ruin the fabric of this well-crafted thread with their garbage opinions.

Ok, Ok, no more EW. Anywho.

I read up to the start of the third page, and now I'm having difficulties. I've never liked this sterile, writer-on-the-ivory-tower style, where the subject is picked apart, criticized and seeming left for dead as they cue the next up on the list. You may as well dissect the humor in Monty Python, or have the Summer of Love explained in a dictionary.

But like I said, I'm only a few pages in. Maybe at the upper portion of the list the writer will show a little sentimentality. You know, that human stuff, the feeling you get from something in the right context and frame of mind...

    183. “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” = Epic Fail.
    182. “Yer Blues” = Epic Fail.
    181. “Good Day Sunshine” = Epic Fail.

Ok I can't believe at this:

    174.
    “Love You To”

    171. “Wild Honey Pie”

She's Leaving Home at #3? I love the song but that's way too high imo.

Revolution 9 the worst song, blaaaah.

Can you be any more narrow minded and predictable?

It's like the guy has never heard a song without guitars and drums in it.

I read this list a while ago. I disagreed with some stuff too, naturally, but I thought it was good.

I agree with him about I Want You and Yer Blues. IWY(SSH) is a decent enough song, it just drags on and on and on and on and on. And I just plain old don't like Yer Blues.

Good Day Sunshine is freaking awesome.

Also, believe it or not, but Ask Me Why has to be one of my favorites on that whole album.

HMX, I love you. You introduced me to my favorite band, The Beatles. And now you're making a game for my first favorite, Green Day. Thank you so much
