Chalk one up to the marketing team...

I just went and put $115 dollars down on the Remastered Stereo Box set, and will be finalizing the purchase tomorrow.

I was on the fence until I played the game. Thanks Harmonix.

(BTW I wanted the mono box set, but I also wanted all the music, so I went with the stereo set.)

If you just want the music, I think you can get it cheaper buying it individually rather than getting the set. Obviously the set has some extras (the DVD, the case), but I think if you buy it from Target, you can get all the albums for cheaper because of the "buy 2, get $5 gift card" option. It's something like $144 for the 12 single discs - $30 in Target gift cards, then Past Masters and White Album are maybe $18 apiece? Subtract another $5 gift card and it comes out to about $145 total (before tax).

EDIT: This presumes you normally shop Target. If you don't, you can buy in increments and apply the gift card to subsequent purchases; at the end you'd be left with 1 $5 gift card.

I'm waiting to make sure the Apple announcement isn't about the Beatles before I commit to buy anything

I thought of this too, but I didn't want to buy it all digitally.... I trust CDs for quality more than I trust Itunes!

Yeah I looked into that as wlel, but in the end I had some credit at FYE, so I used that and then traded in the Beatles CDs I already had towards it!

I'm not much of an audiophile (blame a congenital hearing defect), and I'm a bit of a minimalist so I prefer not to own the CDs if I can avoid it. But I can definitely understand why someone would want the CDs. Deep down in my heart I crave the mono set ... but I have to refrain. I just don't think I'll get enough out of it.
