The game is fantastic. I never played a music-perfomance video game, but as someone who grew up with The Beatles... being a baby-boomer... I had to buy it.
Just 3 small complaints from a complete novice at this form of a game...
    1. The "Beatlemania" power ups make the chords harder to see.
    2. Too few songs for the expense of the game.
    3. Someone has to invent a game where you can play 3 guitars (lead, rhythm, bass) and drums.

I've had the game for about two weeks now, I've played through the story mode, the challenges, gotten all but a handful of the achievements, and have used the quickplay modes. So I think I've seen most of it by now.

    Pros:
-Stunning. Visually, this game is utterly gorgeous.
-Gameplay innovations. It seems easier to organize people to play now, band/solo quickplay has been combined into one mode, etc.
-Leaderboards. The built in leaderboards are a huge plus. Now scores are actually relevant, and I don't need to turn to third party sites to contextualize them.
-Extras. Even though I'm not a huge Beatles fan, I appreciated the photos, clips, and information about them. This game is an absolute tribute to the band, and extra special because of it.

    Cons:
-It's a band game. Doesn't matter if it's the Beatles, it's still only one band. Going from an overwhelming variety of DLC to one band alone feels incredibly restrictive.
-It's short. We played through the whole thing in under four hours, and that was with breaks and reforming the band a couple of times.
-Transparent highways. The complaints about missing notes due to too many visual elements are quite valid. Somehow I managed to miss a kick line coming down the drum highway, because at that moment the screen had zoomed in on John Lennon's face, applied a colour effect, and perfectly masked the note!
-Scoring. The gold star cut off on a couple of the songs is ridiculously high on 3 out of the 4 instruments. When two people 100% both bass and vocals on I Me Mine, with coordinating Beatlemania, and still can't hit the cut-off, it's ridiculous. It also seems like it could be a huge frustration and deterrent to people new to rhythm gaming who want to work up to the expert achievements. Making them literally impossible isn't a good idea!
-Intro volume. The sound on the introductory video is WAY too loud. Makes me jump everytime I put the disc in.

Both a good and bad thing:
-Harmonies. I love the innovation of them, I love the added fun of them. I hate that you can't play them with people online, I hate that there are achievements requiring you to drag two real life friends through perfect runs of every harmony song. I'm also disappointed that the pitch indicator arrow no longer bends to show if you're sharp or flat (though I understand it would cause too many problems hiding other singers arrows if that happened).

Would I recommend this game to others? If they're really big fans of the Beatles, yes. If they're only middling fans but enjoy rhythm games, probably, but I'd suggest they rent it. It's definitely a game to be experienced, but the replayability factor is much lower because of the limited song pool.

This was my first PS3 game. Bought because of my love of the Beatles.. and it has been a fab-ulous experience, I've purchased every instrument , Abbey Road DLC and more and couldn't have had more fun with it. . I'll get every DLC .. and hope that all or at least the major albums are released..

If you love the Beatles you'll , you love this game..

NOW... since i have the PS3 , I've bought every available game (RB and GH) and have played for weeks... so I have more opinions based on my experience..

1st. the Beatles is the greatest . the visuals and play experience are the best of all the games (obviously not as technical .. the instruments are the best .. the guitars are solid and responsive to play (as game controllers) and the extras are wonderful... I just want more music.. I'll be happy to pay for the entire catalog if they make it available...

RB2 is great fun.. great variety.... lesser graphics ..but great sound.. some real gaps in songs .. but DLC will fill that in...

bought all the track packs ... great .. which i could merge them all into RB2 .. hate loading the DVDs ....(track pack 1 doesn't play with PS3, which I didn't know when I oderred it, but TP2, Classic Rock, Metallic all play okay, but have only simple graphics compared to BRB) (can I buy RB1 and add the content to RB2? the TP1 disk won't even play on my PS3 slim, so I assume RB1 won't either, but I'd like to have the songs)

GH is okay... some exculsive music I which wish was in RB... and justified the GH purchase

soon I be getting a new guitar to really play along ...

... >>Beause, of my love of the Bealtes..

I"d pay twice what I've invested , just for the BRB (and the medley with Abbey Road!) ... and couldn't be happier ... it's a wonderful experience and I love the art and animations. etc...

I'll buy RB3 and all future good stuff.. so much fun for the family ..

This game is awesome. What's awesome about it? The music. Plain and simple. I've been air drumming this stuff for years, and now I can go one step beyond that. Can't wait for new content.

I wish to air my opinion on the marketing strategy of this product. I'm in Hong Kong, Asia. Is this product not supposed to be sold here? Obviously not, as I can order the game disk from local HMV store. Maybe the Limited Edition is not released here, but at least the game itself is (I hope I'm correct). The point is that the Abbey Road DLC is not available on the local PS3 Store. Is this Sony's fault or HMX's strategy? (I don't know about the situation on WII or XBox)

I really am enjoying the music of this game even though it is a rellly easy game on guitar and bass. I have branched out and have been doing vocals and I am loving it!
