Connect the xbox live headsets to sing...

hi everybody
i have never used the xbox live headset, but a friend is going to borrow me one. I don't know how to plug the headset, and how plug it to sing..

i have the rock band 1 bundle, and in the box there was a strange cable for the headset or something like that, but i don't find it, hahahaha. it's necessary to plug the headset? or how i'm gonna conect the headset to sing?

Looking through the manual it says not to use the headset for vocals.
