The same lousy issue was with RB1 & RB2, you can 100% FC a song, use all available energy, and still not get gold stars for both of those games.

HMX did fix that with RB1and 2 but I'm not so sure they should really do anything about it with this game.It really does add a challenge to the game in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible to GS I Feel Fine on bass.

I'm pretty sure somebody just did it recently. A few of the Achievement tracking sites were posting in this regard just the other day. I eventually just said "screw it" and GS'd on Vocals.

Best score on the leaderboards is MephistoJak (no slouch, he) at 39,147.

You ding 5 stars ~29K, so the GS cutoff would be ~43.5K.

No amount of squeezing (which I'm sure Mephisto already employed to hit 39K), is going to make up 4K in points.

This one's a no go on bass for gold stars.

Ah. I see. Well in that case I would recommend anybody wanting to GS that to go with Vocals. It's not too hard a song to sing (and everybody knows the words). If you build up Beatlemania you'll have a full bar to activate just as the solo ends and you'll have it pretty much through the rest of the song (for MAJOR points)

But what about the people who can't sing for **** =(

Seriously though I don't mind. It'll push my to do better on the guitar. I've got 2 of the "GS these 4 songs" achievements. I'll probably get the other 2 eventually. I'm in no rush.

if you're that non-diehard type, then you shouldn't care about gold stars

This. Not to mention that vocals now have "coloring" on the chart so you can tell where "midrange" is in the song. And then the darker edges indicate when the song shifts into the upper or lower range.
