The Beatles: Rock Band 2? Quite a possibility (IMO).

So, given the first week sales of The Beatles Rock Band, I think there is a possibility of HMX creating a sequel for the game.

The game is on pace to outsell Rock Band 2, or at least come close, and the strong Wii sales indicate that the older/casual set have bought into the game completely.

Many of these players will not have the ability, know how, or want to go online to download new songs. Therefore Harmonix is going to want to capitalize on these players by releasing the DLC on disc. They could, and might, do that via a Beatles Track Pack, which would be a great idea. They could feasibly sell each album seperately for about the same price as the DLC, perhaps a price point of $19.99.

However, as we all know, many of the BEST songs from The Beatles career is still missing, even AFTER the release of the three announced DLC albums. Hey Jude, Help, Penny Lane, all these songs will STILL be missing from the catalogue.

Harmonix has been tight lipped on their DLC plans after this year for the game. While surely they might not want to announce too much in order to capitalize on sales now (some people won't download one album if their favorite is coming 6 months from now), they would be silly NOT to release at least the majority of the major releases.

So, what does that mean? Well, we either get a TON of DLC, which would seem a good possibility, OR we see a second release; The Beatles 2.

They could release another large portion of the career, including the songs that were passed over the first time. They could even create new instruments, although that seems unlikely.

So it might seem like a pipe dream, but what do YOU guys think?

Quite honestly, I would rather have DLC.

Number 1, even though we are missing rather famous songs, we have exhausted at least the majority of them with the game, plus the announced DLC. I would expect more and more people complaining about the setlist at that point (and quite honestly, they wouldn't have much of a setlist left)

2. The track pack isn't gonna happen. Mainly because it would pretty much be TB:RB 2. They would have to work in the same engine (Track packs use RB1 engine), there is no exporting into the game (and of course, out) as of now, and with the majority being Wii owners, they would lose a lot with that, and we they would have to work in a lot of dreamscapes, which would be pretty overdone if it were just going to have a trackpack.

Nah, there won't be a TBRB2. We'll just see more DLC (which is more profitable anyway). If they just pumped out another disc with the songs not put in this game (which wouldn't be a huge number with upcoming scheduled DLC), they would get a lot of criticism for pumping out another disc, but not changing anything (which would be most cost effective), or changing a bunch of stuff that costs a lot of money and time (RB3 has to come out sometime, you know).

The best bet is to just stick with the DLC model and make as many tracks available for download as they can.

I guess you are all missing the point. I too would rather have DLC... but a LARGE portion of this particular audience won't be willing to do DLC. These are people without wireless internet connections in their home or have no idea how to do something like that.

Besides, their is no reason to do another engine... it's the same game with different songs. There is still PLENTY of Beatles memorbilia to throw into the game, or it could start later in the career and cover the beginning of the solo careers.

I didn't miss your point at all. I know exactly what you are getting at - I just don't think that they will want to pursue such a thing. Even with the "most people don't do DLC" aspect, RB DLC is highly profitable. Much more so than putting out game discs and equipment. If they use the same engine, they WILL take criticism for just putting out a new disc, that has nothing new besides more songs to offer (this has happened to many a game that offers the same exact engine/game as the previous edition, but with new songs/maps/whatever).

DLC is still quite profitable (even hitting fewer people than a possible second disc), and there would be quite a big drop in songs available for a second game (the best playable songs for the game are mostly on the disc or will be coming for DLC - even if there are some popular ones unavailable now, they may not be as much fun for drums/guitar).

I could see something like a Beatles RB solo edition maybe. Doubt it, but at least you'd be drawing from a completely new source of songs. Still doubt it would happen, but I would think it more likely than a TBRB2 disc.

That would be completely foolish with the DLC being released. A second game would have to lean mostly on their earlier stuff with some White Album and Revolver thrown in. It wouldn't be nearly as much of a nice blend as this is. How would you even end it now that they'd done the rooftop concert in this?

The only thing the excellent sales could lead to is more DLC, in my opinion.
