Y'know, I suppose this is as good a place as any to ask this question. How does everyone follow upcoming and recent music releases? What sites, what services, etc. This is partly market research, partly because S1ckH4nds brought it up and I realized I don't actually know a consistent source. You've got Billboard for radio pop and Pitchfork for scene indie, you can generally cover big names by genre, but I don't know of anywhere that's more universal or that caters to more eclectic desires.

And I guess this is the "new release hype" thread so I figured y'all would have something.

Ultimate-guitar.com has been surprisingly good for me. They've gotten better over the years with keeping up-to-date their news about upcoming albums. They mostly cater to rock/metal though, but they cover everything. Not really a big name source as far as music news goes, but it works for me.

Anyways, new albums from Sevendust, Alice In Chains, Soilwork, and Red have me stoked for the first quarter of next year. After March, not much on the docket yet except Eye Empire, Anew Revolution, and Stone Sour, but 2012 was an exceptionally great year for music, I doubt 2013 will be able to top it for me.

This is a pretty handy way to avoid missing new releases if you have a lifetime to devote.

Maybe the new Gorguts will finally see the light of day sometime this year. Very excited for that as well as the new !T.O.O.H.!, Alice in Chains, and My Bloody Valentine albums among others.

Or if you know how to program against a RESTful API. Hmm....

More on topic, I'm eagerly awaiting word on the new Dismemberment Plan album. From the live shows I think it'll wind up more Emergency & I/Is Terrified, which is exactly the kind of Plan I like.

Right now of releases that I know for sure are coming early 2013, I'm looking forward to the new Edison's Children album (their debut was one of my favorites of late 2011), the new Riverside album, and the new Amplifier album (as you know, The Octopus was my top album of 2011).

Frost* has a new album upcoming (release date TBA), Phideaux has a couple of projects he's working on (and, as usual, is way late with all of them... EDIT: he apparently posted on Facebook a week and a half ago that he's starting to mix Infernal now), and Transatlantic is expected to have a new album out sometime this year (although we'll see on that - three of the four are touring Europe in support of their other projects in the spring).

Second EDIT: Bigelf also has an album in the works, release date TBA.

These guys are great for that, though you'll have go out of your way and google to hear most of it.
