From Wikipedia: Fusion or, more specifically, jazz fusion or jazz rock, is a musical genre that developed in the late 1960s from a mixture of elements of jazz such as its focus on improvisation with the rhythms and grooves of funk and R&B and the beats and heavily amplified electric instruments and electronic effects of rock.
Examples: Al Di Meola - The Wizard
Liquid Tension Experiment - Kindred Spirits
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
you'll notice the title of the page you quoted from wikipedia is "jazz fusion". here's the actual "fusion (music)" page... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusion_genre
i assure you i'm very familiar with the genre (more of a free jazz guy, but i do enjoy a lot of jazz fusion), but don't want to put it before the wider scope that the genre system that the RBN should be shooting for.

Curious as to why there are no Prog. sub-genres well I guess some can be made from the other genres like Prog. Metal, Alt. Prog., Prog. Folk, and Electronic Prog.
Really looking forward to the jazz genre even if it is just described as fusion
"A culture's teachings, and most importantly, the nature of its people, achieve definition in conflict."
using this set of genres/subgenres, some current RB artists are hard to place
here's a few I would add
Emo/Contemporary (this would cover bands like AAR, Taking Back Sunday, etc)
Emo/Hardcore (this would cover the bands that emo purists call "true emo")
Emo/Screamo (this covers 30STM I guess, although not where I would put them by any means and "Reinventing Your Exit")
I thought about Pop-Rock/Powerpop, but I guess those bands could just go into the Pop-Rock/Contemporary genre
Nu-Metal could also get sub-genres. Maybe Rap-Rock and Post-Grunge, although Post-Grunge bands have already appeared under both Nu-Metal, Rock, and even Alternative.
Also I think Punk could use another subgenre, maybe Contemporary or Punk Rock or something for bands like Anti-Flag. Would they go under Punk/Alternative? I don't know...
