Queen Guitarist hints at Queen Rock Band coming soon

Now that Beatles Rock Band is out and has proved such a successful concept, we're sure to see many other band-specific versions of the popular game. Like Queen, for example, may be next, if a recent BBC interview with guitarist Brian May has anything to say about it. While praising the new Muse album (which you need to go buy right now because it's stellar), the topic of Queen's appearance in Lego Rock Band came up, and that led to talk of other Queen-centric games.

May mentioned discussion going on behind the scenes in regards to a Queen Rock Band game, and he was quoted as saying: "Yes we're into it, I think it may happen." Who could blame him for being into it -- I am really into the idea of rocking out some Queen Rock Band style myself.

What do you think of the idea of a slew of Rock Band titles focusing on specific bands. Cool? Or milking the franchise?

If queen got anything, I think it should just be a Track Pack really. Like a whole disc track pack. 20 songs.

This, however I would understand a Queen-centric game using the TB:RB vocals engine. Queen does have some killer harmonies.

While I don't love Queen as much as you do, I do like them a lot. But I really don't want to see HMX start down the bandalone games path. TB:RB should be the exception. Band specific track packs, like the AC/DC track pack, that are fully exportable, would be a different story, and I would fully support that.

I really like Queen but I'm not into this idea at all. I'm so sick of the band-specific games. That's part of why I jumped ship from the GH franchise. If RB starts this as well, it'll be tragic. Unless, of course, the game is exportable. If it goes that route, I can deal with it.

If anything they do with major artists is exportable then great but I will continue to not financially support any games that come out using the Rock Band name that aren't exportable. In fact, if it starts to look like Harmonix is going to make a regular thing out of it, I may become disenfranchised with the whole thing and just stop purchasing Rock Band stuff entirely. This is one of the primary reasons I buy HMX products instead of GH stuff.
