@Blasteroids: Except that the entire point of audition mode is that you transfer over the full game file for a song to the 360, and not to any long-term memory. No streaming involved, as far as I know.

If this is a limitation, then it is a limitation by design. Data streaming has been about for many years and is not a new technology. The basic idea is that data is not stored in memory but is streamed (i.e. read from HD/flash/packets/etc) as required. So you actually need very little memory to display/output a large amount of data, because the memory does not contain the entire song but mearly a portion of the data which is being streamed.

A good example of such a streamed system is the early MP3 players without anti-jog capability. The memory they contain is so small because it is enough to just decrypt the streaming data before being passed to the output device.

Memory is not a limitation by any means on the xbox 360, but an imposed limit due to some other reason.

It has something to do with the longer a song goes the more chances there are for the tempo map and other things to get off kilter.

Maybe....just maybe, Dream Theater were left out of the RB3 setlist, because they're coming to the RBN instead? It's just a guess, and is probably wrong anyway
