Hey, I started out with just Paul's Hofner from the Limited Edition bundle and John's Rickenbacker, but I felt like I needed to complete the set. So, two days ago I bought George's Gretsch Duo-Jet and I am loving it. It really wasn't necessary, though, and in hindsight, I really should have bought another mic instead so I can sing harmonies with my friends, but I'm glad I completed the set, as it felt empty. It's only for completists, though. So, if your okay with forking up another $100 on an unnecessary guitar, I say go for it, especially if your a completist. If not, then I say you don't need to. Just think fast, because like the Limited Edition bundle, these guitars sell out fast (since I bought the Gretsch in October, it was really difficult trying to find a place that sold one for the wii).

It's worth noting that the Gretsch and Rickenbacker both handle differently. The changes are subtle (button placement, whammy bar feel, possibly length of the neck and placement of buttons), but they're there. I play much better on the Gretsch than the Rickenbacker. Keep this in mind when you consider if it's worth picking up the third instrument.

you're right, it did feel incomplete. i got all 3 too.

this may sound crazy, but....i'll use the hofner only when i play bass, make a setlist of John's songs to play the Ricky and play the Gretsch on George's setlist.

thats what i do. i dont let my friends play on the instruments unless they play them correctly.

I bought all the instruments on launch day because I wanted the drumset and George's Gretsch. I bought John's Rickenbacker to finish off the set and to have a guitar that friends can use. I don't want them to mess with the Gretsch.

I've since taken a shine to the Höfner as well.
