    I'm seeing Metallica this weekend.

They're gonna be playing at Madison Square Garden, and my friend was able to acquire tickets. I spent time preparing by listening to the cuts from the Black Album, Load, and Reload that they were playing (much to my ears' displeasure). So, HOR, I ask this: How good are Metallica live?
    Wishlist:

    Moar Grateful Dead:
    Led Zeppelin (I can dream, can't I?):
    Pink Floyd:
    Moar Who:
    Moar Ratt:

If you want my honest opinion, I was not all that impressed. When I actually was at the show, I just thought "meh." They weren't that bad, but nothing special, either. However, I got my tickets through a pre-sale that came with a free download of the concert. You can hear Hetfield's voice cracking on every note on the download. I tried listening to the show, but couldn't get past the first song.

they are pretty damn good, they don't F*ck around on stage, not a comedey show just a a damn good live band. Also they won't play much anything past AJFA other than the singles off Black and Load.

well thats what it was like when I saw 'em

Hopefully you get to see a good show. My favorite Metallica album is S&M, which is itself a live album.
I'm not removing this until we get some Daft Punk DLC. (since 3/26/10)

The only bad parts really are just Lars' off beat drumming, and the occasional voice crack by James. Overall it's not a bad band to see, though they are past their prime live, they are still decent.

Passed on free tickets last week. Apparently it was decent, but the setlist wasn't as solid as what they usually offer.
