It's not just tough having black characters, but white characters too. Their are no white characters other than Rock Band's characters such as The Duke of Gravity.

Totally true. In addition, just like real Lego sets, the minifigs in Lego RB can bend and move like real people; even their mouths articulate in a realistic fashion.
Putting Lego into a computer game means that you can transcend some of the limitations of the figurines. Allowing changeable skin tone would have been a great use of the medium.
The whole 'Lego yellow is the standard' thing doesn't work as an argument. If they introduced realistic skin tones with the SW Lego sets, and they brought realistic skin tones into Lego RB, then they've opened that door. They easily could have made the character creator more robust.

I'm surprised to see such a debate on this and it goes to show the Danes were right to go with racially neutral colouring to prevent things like this. However they HAVE opened up room for controversy by changing this in recent years and are now creating this (to me) minor problem. It is a bit silly skin tones are body part specific but come on! Just enjoy the game, I never expected to create an accurate minifig Lanky so perhaps I'm less affected by it but is it really THAT important?
I'm a long-time Lego fan, and love the original neutral yellow skin tone concept. But the game's creators chose to make their signature LRB box art/cinema band out of racial-specific skin tone parts. In fact, watching the opening cinema, it's like the band represents "us" entering the all-yellow Lego World. Since there's a black character prominently featured on the box and cinema, I would have assumed the character creator would have allowed for far more black characters than it does, and I can see how some purchasers can be disappointed and a bit ticked off.
I love the game, but a simple skin tone toggle would have solved the whole thing.
What the heck is a "predgitise"?
I never noticed the lack of a Black Female face... my girlfriend (a Black woman) made a minifig and neither of us noticed a problem... or, at least, if she did, she didn't verbalize it...
I more bothered by the lack of a bald head... though I guess a bald minifig would still have the little bump on top in real life anyway...
True, there's such a limitation...

Came out pretty decent.
It appears really easy to make Billy Mays as well, there is a face that is perfect for him in this game.
