    Lip-synching question

If I have a song with only two or three parts (including vox), will Magma reject any lip-synching for those absent characters when it auto-generates their actions?

Actually, probably the bigger (philosophical) question is "what's the worth of applying singalong to non-playing characters?" If there's a vocal chorus in one part of the song, would it be pointless to include the instrumentalists who are sitting out?

I don't think Magma will automatically place any sing-alongs for characters that don't have a part, but you can definitely tweak your venue track to make it happen. For example, even if a song had no guitar part you could still place a [do_directed_cut directed_duo_guitar] and a "Guitarist Sing Along" note and the otherwise idle guitarist would sing along for the duration of that note.

As for whether you should do that, I think it's a neat idea if you want the idle character to look like they're participating in the song in some way. On the other hand, you may not want to draw attention to the fact that there's an idle character on stage, in which case you'd want to keep the camera off him/her as much as possible.

As if spoken from my own mouth, trg007. That's exactly why I brought up the point: it's easily understandable why it could go either way. Is it going to be another one of those subjective topics that would have to be addressed on a song-by-song basis? Is it appropriate only in big numbers? Would you say it's ok for anything that's not low-key?

I think I may make a new Venue track that's set to focus on a non-playing character the whole time, just to see what Magma has them do.
