Um, rotoscope? That's directly tracing it and making it a vector. Or, if used in animation; tracing over live action stills to make it a 2D animation.
I'm sketching this out myself and I'm not tracing anything. I'm using a grid as a guideline so I don't warp up the dimensions.

LOL, I know. The nose is giving me a lot of trouble to draw.
Makes me realize I didn't exactly pick the easiest perspective for nose-drawing.
