A Day In The Life has always been my favourite Beatles song. I remember hearing Jeff Beck cover it for the first time.

Comments like that make me wonder why you bother commenting on the Beatles? Not only are you way off base but you insult the fans who like the Beatles. The album might be not to your liking or the Beatles more likely but it's extremely musical ranging from Indian composition, songs that change time signatures in sections, songs with classical influence, avant influences, modal influences, and of course great psychedelic songs.

I guess you have heard of Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree who is remixing King Crimson. On Classic Rock Magazine he basically said that while he thinks King Crimson is the first prog band the Beatles Sgt Pepper's has a claim to be one of the albums that was the blue-print for progressive rock. On top of that he thinks Sgt Pepper was a very ambitious album. Like I said once before maybe you should compare songs like "Strawberry Fields Forever" or "A Day in the Life" to what came before them rather than groups that were influenced obviously by the Beatles that were in the late 1960's and early 70's. There was nothing remotely anything like "Strawberry Fields Forever" or "Tomorrow Never Knows" that was prior to this in both rock and pop music in 1966.

There is absolutely no way for anything to be more musical than anything else unless you slap some false definition on it. As long as it's music, it's musical.

Slayer and Pachelbel are just as musical as each other.
Van Halen and traditional yodelers are just as musical as one another.

Now, can something have a wider range of influences? Sure. You showed that well in your post. You just failed to see the joke in schiz's post and took it WAY too personally.

Also, bringing the prog discussion up was not smart at all. For one, I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to hijack a thread to discuss the topic of a previously locked thread, and for two, it was a stalemate anyway. You obviously have a different thought on what progressive rock is than schiz and I do, and bringing it back up is going to lead to bans on both sides.

That's worse than the album grandpa released.

I would eat my left hand to hear a single track from that album.

Look I am in no way saying the Beatles Sgt. Pepper is the most musical rock album ever. But joking or not joking it's still a very diverse album. If you don't like the Beatles fine or Sgt. Pepper but musically anyone who knows music would say it's diverse. As for bringing prog up with the Beatles I guess you are right, time to move on.

Sgt. Pepper's is the best Beatles album IMO, and probably one of the best, if not the best album of all time.
