last.fm suggestions, but they're almost always wrong. Especially when they think I'll like Tristiana, Elis, Griefshire, Delain, etc etc etc because I listen to a lot of Gathering and Epica. They unfortunately don't add in a factor called "Suckiness" to their recommendation algorhythm.
Does anyone chart anymore? le sigh.

I'd love to meet that station's programming director.
Classic alternative is no question one of the best Music Choice channels, I always hear a great mix of a lot of different things on that channel. A bunch of the Music Choice channels are really good, but that one is excellent.

If it's a genre I know and like a few bands from: last.fm
If it's a genre or musician with a large catalog that I don't know anything about: here.

The Metal channel can be pretty suckish until late night, but it also exposed me to Death, which was a life-changing experience for me. I also heard Thyrfing and some other bands on there late at night.

Oh yeah, I completely agree that the Metal channel is awful for the most part, but I have found some great bands on there. I can't think of any in particular, but I've found some. That's the main reason why I don't tune in to that channel much, not enough good stuff until later on in the day.

Yeah, I've never checked out the Alternative channels, but I know one plays Joy Division and some other stuff, IIRC.
