Has Rockband inspired anyone to purchase a REAL guitar?

I know this sounds foolish but I want to, I was never into instruments, or even music for that matter, but rockband gave me the little interest I never had, so Im going to pick up an acoustic guitar to play with.

yea I know, rockband is a videogame, you cant learn songs in a half hour in real life, but hey I have plenty of time, if it takes 10 weeks to learn about a girl unplugged ,then so be it

not to start a band or none of that, just to play around with, if 3 years from now I know somewhat the basics of playing, Ill be satisfied with that..... I have alot of youtube video tutorials to watch now, I wonder if Ill be playing rockband anymore lol

any1 has been in my situation?

I bought a real guitar because Rock Band brought me closer to music.

It inspired me to buy a real guitar, but my finances don't seem to want to have anything to do with it.

Music Rhythm games in general have inspired me. Since I started playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero I've purchased a real bass guitar. I also plan on trying out drums sometime, although I'll probably just be trying on a friend's set and I will probably never get a drum set of my own.

I am scared of buying an electric guitar because they say it way too difficult to learn if you havent done acoustic?

My first guitar was an electric. I didn't find the pleasures of the acoustic till about 5 years after that. Now i prefer the acoustic.

I learned on someone else's acoustic, and then bought an electric and was in heaven. I'd always recommend this route.

Anyway, Rock Band has inspired me to play the drums, only not. I don't see how playing them in real life would be more fun than playing them in Rock Band.

I don't enjoy Rock Band guitar, and I think that most guitar players on the forums feel the same, and have become fans of the drums instead. I could be wrong.

However, what really caught my attention and got me to reply to this thread, was your choice of songs. Be careful, young padowan!

I was learning my first Nirvana song ("Heart Shaped Box") when Cobain killed himself.

Years later, I was learning to play "No Rain" by Blind Melon when the singer died of a drug overdose.

I gave up the guitar then, however my flat mate has begged me to learn a Danzig song.

Yeah, same here. My crippling RB DLC habit doesn't help matters.
