At Valencia Community College in Orlando Jonathan Coulton played a show in our performing arts theatre (that just let out honestly 15 minutes ago); told us about his life, his rise to fame, what it was like, played about 10 songs, and answered a few questions. Mine was of course of what is coming to RBN.

He told us that "The Future Soon" is already done, and that "it should be available to purchase in the next 48 hours", whatever that means. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3_6LKK0rXg)

He also mentioned "Creepy Doll", which is already being worked on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDxgV-JDDfk), and that he just had to upload the finished verison or something to that effect, and said "Code Monkey" was also in the works.

He told no further titles, but said he loves the whole Rock Band Network thing and is looking forward to doing a bunch more songs for it, as he loves the whole process of releasing songs that way.

Then I shook his hand as our giant group of nerds gathered around chatting and laughing with him and my day was made.

I REALLY wish he would have elaborated on that whole 48 hour thing. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

Well I don't think he just blew it and leaked the opening date of the RBN store, so what I think he meant was that the song was submitted to the store just like the other (as of this writing) 31 songs, and is ready to go as soon as the store opens.

    That's my guess.
 guy. Thank you for Mac RBN tools, hmx!

If he said "available for purchase" he misunderstood (or HMX is suddenly going to open the RBN store today ). After a song receives the required number of positive peer reviews it goes into a "quarantine" for a couple of days where HMX gives it the final stamp of approval. That's all that means.

I was thinking to myself that we'd only need another 50 or so to beat the "most new artists in a day" record

Then realised that some artists were already in the game (Jonathan Coultron) and some bands are releasing more than one song (Glass Hammer, Amberian Dawn etc.)

    :/

RBN now has its first Tier 6 band song approved - Terrorhorse "Packet Flier" from the guys at RhythmAuthors. Good luck with that one, guitarists and drummers.

The guitarists will need it: based on my experience trying to pass it, I'd say its harder than Caprici. Absolutely for experts only.

Wow, I remember listening to that song way back when RhythmAuthors announced them. I thought it sounded insanely hard at the time - can't imagine what the charts will look like!

I'm curious to see how many Canadian bands/songs are going to be on RBN at launch. We're a nation of rockband fiends, and so many of those myspace pages seemed to stem from the great white north...
